By B.C. Manion email@example.com Every year, like clockwork, members of the Lutz-Land O Lakes Womans Club throw a luncheon and shower to benefit women and children living in two area domestic violence shelters. Club members come to the event bearing clothing and other gifts to give to the shelter residents. They tend to be practical items, such as diapers, childrens toys, childrens clothing and personal hygiene supplies. The womans group also has a boutique and a flea market, where club members and the general public can shop to raise money for the shelters. The event also features a $6-a-plate lunch of lasagna, salad, bread, a drink and dessert, which is open to the public. Last year, we fed 75 people, said Joan Collins, chairwoman of the luncheon for the womans club. The items provided through the womans club luncheon lifts the spirits of the women and children who live at Sunrise of Pasco Inc.s domestic violence shelter, said Trish Kley, the centers development director. They appreciate that people who dont even know them are willing to help them, and they marvel at the items that are donated, she said. Shelter residents get excited as they are unloading and unloading and unloading the vehicles that deliver the items that were donated at the shower, Kley said. What they do is fantastic. So many of these things, wed never be able to supply, Kley added. The shelter is grateful for any donations and particularly need practical items, such as toilet paper, toiletries and bigger-ticket items such as highchairs, car seats and strollers. Sunrise is seeing a growing demand, and is addressing that by adding 15 new beds, Lutz NEWS FREE Lutz NEWS SERVING LUTZ/ODESSA Call AttorneyJIM HOLLIDAY813-868-1887 AUTO ACCIDENT?SLIP & FALL? School & Sports Physicals By B.C. Manion firstname.lastname@example.org When Courtney Reed hits the runway, she has a singular goal: To put whatever piece of apparel shes wearing in its best light. Recently, the 17-year-old Steinbrenner High School student proved that she knows how to work a runway by capturing first place in Old Navys Next Top Model competition at a mall in Sarasota. She modeled black jeans, a black tank top and a white jacket, along with accessories and came out on top among a field of about 60 competitors. As a result of winning that competition, she now advances to the Florida competition for Miss Teen U.S.A. The school has purchased a large chunk of land near its existing campus that has belonged to the pioneer MacManus family for decades, with an eye toward a major campus expansion in the coming years. The $2 million land grab is four times larger than the schools existing campus, and allows Academy at the Lakes to extend its reach to 20 Mile Level Road with a total of nearly 60 acres of land. About six years ago, my sister and I, and our brother, started talking about what we wanted to do with this land, said Dr. Lou MacManus. A retired surgeon who lived for decades in Ohio and Tennessee, MacManus grew up in a modest house built a year before she was born on the property now owned by Academy at the Lakes. She shares many memories of her childhood on the land with her sister, University of South Florida professor Susan MacManus, as well as her late brother, Dr. H. Cameron MacManus, who was killed in a plane crash last spring. Theres been a lot of changes here since we were kids, and many of them good changes, MacManus said. But we didnt want to see a bunch of homes on this land.MAKING IT WORKAcademy at the Lakes had plans to expand for the last two years, but the deal to purchase this piece of MacManus land came together only recently, thanks to the work of the MacManus family, as well as the Academys head of school Mark Heller and then board of trustees chair Cynthia Miller. The MacManuses have been very interested in seeing the future of their parents and grandparents land used for something productive and positive for the community, Heller said. They couldve easily sold this land to a developer for a lot more money. But instead, decided that they should take a Courtney Reed Dr. Lou MacManus, right, shares stories about growing up on the land she recently sold to Academy at the Lakes, with former Academy board chair Cynthia Martin and current headmaster Mark Heller. CnewsPubs.com / 813-909-2800 COMMUNITY NEWS PUBLICATIONS August 14, 2013 3 Much-needed supplies head to schools before Aug. 19 openingBy Michael Hinman email@example.com Pasco County Schools is set to approve a budget valued at more than $1 billion. Yet, the hundreds of teachers who lead classrooms in the district regularly find themselves without much-needed supplies as simple as notebooks and pencils. And thats where United Way of Pasco County steps in. The charity and service group collected more than 10,000 school supply items recently as part of its annual Stuff the Bus for Teachers campaign. The effort is designed to bring the community together, stocking classrooms and giving a helping hand to the men and women responsible for ensuring the education of our young future leaders. Teachers spend between $400 and $1,000 out of their own pocket to supply their classrooms, said Stefanie Pontlitz, director of development for the local United Way office. After hearing that, we really wanted to try and assess their needs, because it not only helps the teachers, it helps the students, and it helps learning. And that helps keep the focus on the classroom. This year, United Way and Pasco County Schools will reach out to 770 teachers in 80 of its schools to help supply their classrooms with essential items. Theyll use supplies collected from 14 buses parked at Publix and Walmart locations throughout the county during Floridas annual tax-free holiday. With school ready to start on Aug. 19, the district is looking for everything they can to help. That includes $1,000 thanks to a small church congregation in Trinity that took a bit of a unique approach. If you see someone in need, and its within your power to help them, lets do so, said Pastor Clayton Bell, who leads Trinity New Life Church at Trinity Elementary School on Duck Slough Boulevard. For the second year in a row, Bell interrupted his regular Sunday morning sermon at the young church to convince his flock to get in their cars and head straight to the nearby Walmart. There, the church shopped together, leaving with several carts full of supplies. Pasco is a very heavy-education county, and we have a lot of teachers and homeschool moms in our church, Bell said. Teachers have to do so much out of their own pocket, and we wanted to do something that would help them. The effort also got support from local Rotary clubs, as well as teachers themselves, volunteering at drop-off points around the county. Moving company Two Men and a Truck will deliver supplies to west Pasco schools, while the United Way will take care of the eastern side of the county. Among the volunteers was Pasco Schools superintendent Kurt Browning, who not only donated his own box of supplies, but also worked tirelessly to help organize everything as they were brought into the Pine View Middle School gymnasium. Its a great partnership, and the United Way has been a catalyst to really lead the effort, Browning said. But my thanks goes out to all the people that contributed their hardearned dollars to make sure our kids have what they need to start school here. This year slightly less than $40,000 in donations came in, topping last years total of around $35,000, and the increase was needed since 80 more names were added to the teacher list. This is our countys future, Pontlitz said. We want to support the future, and we want to support our teachers. Supplies aplentyPasco County Schools and the United Way of Pasco County collected nearly 10,000 pieces of much-needed school supplies during its Stuff the Bus for Teachers event. That included: 2,902 spiral notebooks 1,437 folders 4,839 pencils 433 scissors 831 glue bottles 795 glue sticks Cindy Greyard, right, a teacher at Fox Hollow Elementary School, helps unload boxes of school supplies at Pine View Middle School last week. (Photos by Michael Hinman) The trip from the buses to the inventory room in the gymnasium of Pine View Middle School was a short one thanks to some hand trucks. www.maidbrigade.comRe-claim your FREE TIME by hiring MAID BRIGADE!Thank you Maid Brigade for all that you do to help keep my home clean and safe from harmful chemicals. Manion email@example.com If the phone rings and someone on the other end of the call says its time for jury duty, beware. The Pasco County Clerk & Comptrollers office is reminding residents that notices of jury service and failure-to-appear notifications are still mailed, and not made over the telephone. The warning comes after the clerks office received word from their state association that these kinds of calls are going out, said Darcy Foster, director of strategic enterprise for the clerks office. Some of these calls also seek sensitive personal information, which should never be provided to an unsolicited phone caller, the clerks office advises. The fraudulent telephone calls generally follow the same lines, the clerks office notes, claiming its coming from the office of the court. The caller threatens to have a warrant issued for an arrest if that person does not report for jury duty. When the person receiving the calls says they never received a notice or summons, theyre then prompted to give information like birthdate, Social Security number or even credit or bank account information, according to the clerks office. When that happens, the person receiving the call should hang up the telephone and report the call to a local law enforcement agency, Foster said. They can even take the additional step of reporting the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov, or call (877) 3824357. We set out 30 years ago to provide the best care possible for adult and pediatric cancer patients, said Carl Brannan, M.D., a former surgeon at St. Josephs Hospital and former cancer liaison physician for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Although much has changed in the last 30 years, there are still many familiar faces around St. Josephs Cancer Institute. Joseph G. Sinkovics, M.D., an oncologist, joined St. Josephs Hospital in 1981 and was named the first medical director of St. Josephs Cancer Institute in 1983. He still works at the hospital as the Cancer Institutes senior medical and scientific advisor. A handful of oncology nurses from the early 1980s who were the Cancer Institutes first team members are still caring for oncology patients. In 1986, Dr. Carl Brannans son, Anthony Brannan, M.D., joined his father in surgical practice at St. Josephs Hospital. He then took over his fathers position as the cancer liaison physician for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer when his father retired two years later. He too, became the chairman of St. Josephs Cancer Committee, a position he still holds today. Cancer services continued to grow with the opening of St. Josephs Childrens Hospital Hematology and Oncology Department in 1990. Hardeao Panchoosingh, M.D. now leads the pediatric program as it continues to grow and treat Tampa Bay area children. As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of St. Josephs Cancer Institute, we again want to express appreciation for the enthusiasm and generosity of the many loyal cancer professionals who care for our cancer patients and who make the successes of the St. Josephs Cancer Institute possible, said Dr. Anthony Brannan. With their leadership and support, we are confident in our ability to fulfill our mission and set the standard for high-quality, compassionate cancer services in our community. Today, St. Josephs Cancer Institute treats more cancer patients in Hillsborough County than any other facility. It serves as a community resource dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through collaborative efforts in prevention, testing and diagnosis, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care. Board-certified surgeons, oncologists and radiologists at the Cancer Institute specialize in diagnosing colorectal cancer, breast cancer, pediatric cancer and blood diseases, gynecological and ovarian cancers, lung cancer, prostate cancer, skin cancer and other types of cancer. The Cancer Institute functions within St. Josephs Hospitals (St. Josephs Hospital, St. Josephs Womens Hospital, St. Josephs Childrens Hospital and St. Josephs Hospital North) and within its affiliated independent physician offices/practices. In 2012, the Cancer Institute expanded services to St. Josephs newest location, St. Josephs Hospital-North, bringing infusion therapy to the Lutz community. 4211 Van Dyke Road Lutz, Florida StJosephsNorth.org

(813) 996-9800Dr. Michael A Craven, D.C. 5420 Land OLakes Blvd Land O Lakes, FL 34639 firstname.lastname@example.org 813-996-9800 www. CravenChiropractic.comwww.NeuropathyLandOLakes.com HOURS: MON, WED, THURS 9 TO 6; TUES, 2-6; FRI 9-12Dr. Michael Craven, a well-respected chiropractor who has practiced in Land O Lakes since 1983, has partnered with NeuropathyDR to offer treatment plans that dramatically reduce chronic pain, burning, numbness, fatigue, muscle weakness and tingling caused by nerve damage from diabetic neuropathy, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain sources. Traditional treatments for chronic pain are only focused on treating symptoms with prescription drugs and in the case of diabetes, by controlling blood sugar. But drugs are expensive, often have limited effectiveness and can result in unpleasant side effects. If only physical therapy is prescribed, patients often do not find lasting relief. NeuropathyDR is a new breakthrough program for people who suffer from various forms of neuropathy. In addition to successfully treating the symptoms of these chronic diseases, it also addresses the true root causes and fosters independence.Fortunately for area residents, Dr. Craven is the only doctor in Tampa Bay to offer this new NeuropathyDR program and his office is close to home for residents in Pasco and north Hillsborough counties. What Exactly Is Diabetic Neuropathy? This chronic disease is a result of nerve damage that results in pain, weakness, burning and tingling in the hands and feet. Its root cause is most often trauma, medications and systemic diseases like diabetes. An estimated 20 million Americans suffer from this debilitating illness. How Does NeuropathyDR Help? This comprehensive program of patient care incorporates nutrition, dietary changes, exercise and rehab therapies. It uses clinically tested NDGen home care electrical therapy units, along with massage, spinal therapy and LASER THERAPY, to achieve lasting pain relief and longterm self-management of their illness. What Makes NeuropathyDR Different From Other Treatments? This protocol begins by establishing a baseline upon which to improve and then develops four key areas: 1.) Determine what caused a patients neuropathy, fibromyalgia or chronic pain in the first place 2.) Diet analysis and specific nutritional supplement combinations 3.) Using Laser Therapy and NDGen nerve stimulators to heal and restore function. 4.) Perhaps most importantly, Dr. Craven monitors his patients progress and adjusts their individual, specific treatment plans based upon their clinical results to achieve maximum relief. The Bottom Line This program is for the patient that is serious, really serious, about restoring their health, normal daily function, independence, and reducing their dependency on drugs. For diabetic neuropathy there is usually four to six weeks of supervised in-office treatments, then patients continue on a personal, home-care program. Most patients need only periodic, in-clinic follow-ups. Other conditions may require less.Craven Chiropractic uses the highest quality professional and research-supported nutritional products and therapy tools. Laser Therapy especially has shown fantastic results with a multitude of painful conditions. Dr. Craven is always available for follow up and emergencies. The office phone is answered live 24/7, offering you direct contact with Dr. Craven by phone or email, at all reasonable hours of every day. He gladly shares clinical support materials with your physicians and always refers you back to your personal physicians for careful monitoring of underlying medical conditions.Craven Chiropractic Offers Patients Breakthrough Treatment for Diabetic Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia and Chronic PainDo you or a loved one suffer from Diabetic Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia or Chronic Pain? Academy at the Lakes is paying slightly more than $2 million for the land, equating to a little less than $44,000 per acre. MacManus set up a charitable remainder annuity trust, which holds the 16-year mortgage for the property. Excluding any interest or other fees, that will cost the growing school approximately $10,500 per month on average. While it might seem high, Heller sees it as an investment in the future for a school that is key to the economic growth in central Pasco County. The north side of the county is growing so fast, certainly now that construction and homebuilding is picking back up again, Heller said. The north side is going to be burgeoning again, just like it did 10 years ago, and were going to be able to grow with that community, and provide resources to that growing community. There are no immediate plans to build on the land, but it is something the school expects to do at some point to accommodate student needs, Heller said. In the meantime, some of the older students will tend to the land and learn how to grow oranges and take part in other agricultural activities. Food raised will be donated to local charities. Heller talked about expansion in August 2011 when he said Academy at the Lakes should explore ways that would set it up for the next 100 years. This is something that could absolutely transform the footprint and the presence of the school, Heller said at the time. What happens is up to the schools board of trustees, but there are many possibilities. One could include integrating the entire campus into one site, instead of having the younger and older students divided physically by Collier Parkway. The land could also become a sports complex center, among other things. Theres just so much that we can do that we havent really even talked about yet, Heller said.NEVER FORGET HISTORYThe matriarch of the MacManus family had always pushed education on her children, explaining why Lou MacManus and her siblings all reached doctorate levels in their schooling. Knowing that the farm she worked so hard to build would now be used for educating hundreds of young people not just three would make her mother proud, MacManus said. Education was so big for us growing up, and we were always out learning everything, MacManus said. We spent a lot of times outdoors, and didnt watch much TV. We were doing sports, riding bicycles, and I even had a horse. The 2,200-square-foot house that served as the MacManus home for more than half a century still stands on the property. There are trees in front where the young MacManus children would hang their wet clothes after swimming in the nearby lake.We were together and outside from dawn until dusk, MacManus said. We spent our days swimming in the lake and roaming around the orange groves. And while the lake may no longer be a place where young people can just jump in, the land will be there to help educate many generations to come.KINDNESS, from page 1 ACADEMY, from page 1 was first introduced to modeling when she was 13. Reed was at a Jonas Brothers concert at the amphitheater at the Florida State Fairgrounds when someone approached her and asked if shed ever considered modeling. She said she was interested, so she went to an audition and ultimately began working with a management company called N8 Talent, based in Sarasota. N8 Talent is a management company for actors, models, vocalists, comics and bands in Florida and Los Angeles. The companys clients have been involved in numerous widely known films and television programs including Spider-Man, Dolphin Tale, ER and Hannah Montana. N8 has also done commercial work for clients like T.J. Maxx, MTV, Publix Super Markets and McDonalds. Reed said she attended the International Presentation of Performers, or iPop, in Las Vegas, and received callbacks from several agents in Los Angeles. But she was unable to pursue those opportunities. At the time, her dad, Steve, was laid off from his job as an information technology manager after 23 years with the company. It was really tough, said her mom, Debbie. The agents were interested, but the family couldnt swing it financially. Things just got put on hold for a little bit. Steve said hes pleased by his daughters commitment and her ability to maintain a level head. Im proud of how shes stuck with it throughout the years, he said. She has a good outlook. She works hard at it. Despite the familys economic setbacks, the young woman has taken it all in stride. Reed said she enjoys modeling and would love to pursue a career in modeling and acting. At the same time, shes also interested in studying psychology and becoming a licensed cosmetologist. She can easily picture herself doing hair and makeup for other models. Courtney knows that psychology and cosmetology may seem like an odd combo to some, but that doesnt bother her a bit. She also has a variety of other interests. Courtney carries a 3.76 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, as she enters her senior year at Steinbrenner. She also plays piano and violin. She was an altar server at St. Timothy Catholic Church for four years, and hopes to attend college in New York while pursuing modeling opportunities there. But rejection is part of the business when it comes to modeling and acting, and Steve Roberts from N8 has worked with Courtney to make sure she doesnt take it personally. If I dont get a call back, Im not what they wanted at that moment, Reed said. Courtney Reed,17, recently won Old Navys Next Top Model competition at a shopping mall in Sarasota. She will go on to compete at the Florida level of the Miss Teen U.S.A. competition. Another big key for Hudson this season will be the development of quarterback Joey Caruso. As a sophomore, Caruso appeared in six games for the Cobras last season and passed for 266 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Though those are not Joe Montana-like numbers, Caruso will continue to get better, especially with one year under his belt in Kantors system. WILDCATS GET STRONGERWith interest back in its program, Wesley Chapel has high hopes for the future. The Wildcats struggled to draw players into its program under Ben Alford last season, and it showed as only 26 players were on the spring roster in 2012. But optimism is shining bright this season under first-year coach Tico Hernandez, who took over for Alford after he left Wesley Chapel to take a director job in Iowa. And that could be a major impact for the young Wildcats. Hernandez has instilled a new motto for his players Building Men for Others and that doesnt just ring true in the community, but on the field, too. Wesley Chapel lost 12 seniors to graduation after last season, but returns a host of leaders, including quarterback Ty Tanner, who passed for 445 yards with four touchdowns during his sophomore campaign. Still, even with a new culture, there are bound to be some bumps in the road. Question marks swirl around the Wildcats offense, which loses leading-rusher Daquan Caesear (671 yards on 125 carries) and top-receiver Jordan Primus (222 yards on 18 receptions). On defense, Wesley Chapel returns Nalu Fraticelli (108 total tackles) and Mark LaBarbera (67 total tackles), but loses Kudiel Gomez, who had 57 total tackles, including five for losses. It wont be easy going up against the likes of Anclote and nondistrict opponents in Pasco and Sunlake. But Wesley Chapel has enough quality players to get close to a playoff spot this season. Voted Floridas No. 1 Weekly Sports Section Community SportsCommunity Sports By Jeff Odom email@example.com In light of the recent Biogenesis scandal that put a black eye on Major League Baseball, the Florida High School Athletic Association is conducting a major review of its policies against the use of performanceenhancing drugs for student-athletes. In a release by the organization, which regulates interscholastic athletic programs for high school students at member public and private schools, FHSAA executive director Roger Dearing asked the Sports Medicine Advisory committee to perform a top-to-bottom review of existing policies to determine what can be done to eliminate PED use. The FHSAAs overriding priority is the safety, well-being and constructive development of young student-athletes, whose bodies and character are still forming, Dearing said. Performance-enhancing drugs undermine every aspect of this goal, and so it is imperative that our student-athletes adhere to a zero tolerance policy toward these inherently unfair and dangerous substances.Existing FHSAA policies and bylaws state that student-athletes can be suspended from competing if they have used PEDs, but Dearing said it isnt enough. Especially after a report by the Miami Herald alleged that two current high school baseball players were clients of the Biogenesis Anti-Aging Clinic in South Florida where many professional baseball players, including New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun and Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, were found to have allegedly obtained banned substances. In total, MLB officials suspended 13 players for their involvement. Dearing said the issue starts and ends with coaches. Here is the bottom line for me: As executive director of FHSAA, I believe we must draw a line in the sand against performanceenhancing drugs, Dearing said. School districts simply cannot tolerate coaches who encourage or look the other way when athletes use PEDs. Therefore, these coaches cannot be allowed to keep their jobs or have anything to do with young athletes. This is more than safeguarding fair play. Its about saving lives. According to the release, Dearing has asked the 15-member committee, which includes 11 physicians, as well as athletic trainers, former coaches and educators, to review a full range of issues related to PED use, including but now limited to: Whether existing policies and procedures provide sufficient authority for schools to test and discipline student-athletes who may be using banned substances. The legal, policy and fiscal implications of heightened policies against performance-enhancing drugs; and Whether the FHSAA prohibition of PEDs would be more effective if set out as a stand-alone policy rather than existing as a part of a broader policy on sportsmanship. Dearing was joined in his pledge for a review by State Sen. Bill Montford, D-Tallahassee, who is a former school principal and superintendant and now serves as chief executive officer of the Florida Association of District School Superintendents. Performance-enhancing drugs pose a very real, very dangerous threat to high school student-athletes, both physically and psychologically, Montford said in the release. I commend the FHSAA for being proactive in addressing the challenge presented by coaches, parents and young athletes who want to get ahead by any means possible, whatever the personal cost. Jennifer Roth Manyard, an assistant professor of family and sports medicine with the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and member of the FHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, said the organization is making positive strides to eliminate PEDs. Teenagers are still developing and PEDs have no place in their lives, Maynard said in the release. Whatever the FHSAA can do to stop PEDs from being used by high school student-athletes is a step in the right direction.Performance-enhancing drugs hit high school level CnewsPubs.com / 813-909-2800 COMMUNITY NEWS PUBLICATIONS August 14, 2013 13 Roger Dearing By Jeff Odom firstname.lastname@example.org As the 2013 high school football season fast approaches, The Laker/Lutz News sports staff is previewing the new districts marked up by the Florida High School Athletic Association. Our fourth installment in the series takes a look at Class 5A-District 7. For past editions, go to LakerLutzNews.com.ANCLOTES TITLE TO LOSEThe Anclote Sharks made the playoffs last season as a district runner-up behind region semifinalist Pasco, and are the only team in 5A-7 that had a winning record last season. And the bad news for fellow opponents all signs point to coach Matt Wicks team keeping its foot on the gas pedal. Though they lost a few key offensive linemen, the Sharks return one of the top running backs in the North Suncoast in senior Willie Barrett. Barrett rushed for 1,901 yards on 20 carries last season, and finished with 22 total touchdowns. He was also invited to compete in the Under Armour All-America underclassmen combine, which was at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg in January, and featured some of the best players in the country. If Anclote can keep running the ball with Barrett and find a good replacement for quarterback John Forgione who graduated in May after passing for 906 yards with 15 touchdowns his senior season the Sharks will be very hard to knock off, and could cruise to their first district championship in program history.KANTOR TURNS AROUND HUDSONFormer Gaither coach Mark Kantor came to Hudson without any real expectations other than to win a couple games here and there. But after his first season, which saw the Cobras improve from an 0-10 record in 2011 to 3-7 last year, Kantor might just sneak Hudson into the playoffs in his second year. The Cobras return a host of playmakers, including running back Noah Siegrist, who rushed for 656 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season. Under an experienced leader like Kantor, Siegrist could thrive in 2013. Wesley Chapels Marcus Hayne has never played football, but his leadership ability and winning experience on the basketball court may suit the Wildcats well. Willie Barrett, running back, AncloteBarrett represents the Sharks biggest bite out of the backfield. The senior has one offer on the table from South Alabama, but expect Division I programs to line up at the door for his services if he is able to repeat or better his near-2,000-yard season in 2012.Marcus Hayne, wide receiver, Wesley ChapelHayne has been one of the best players for the Wildcats athletic program, but on the hardwood, not the gridiron. The 6-foot-7 senior is giving football a try after helping lead the Wesley Chapel boys basketball team to its first district title in seven years. With that kind of experience, he will be an appreciated member of the locker room and possibly even an under-the-radar playmaker that will give Tanner a nice target down the field.KEEP AN EYE ON CANT MISS MATCH-UPWiregrass Ranch at Wesley Chapel, Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m.Yes, its a nondistrict game. Yes, Wiregrass Ranch has never defeated its cross-town foe in the regular season. And, yes, this could be one of the dark horse picks for the best game in Pasco County this year. Nuff said? This game wont have implications for the district championship, but a reloaded, hungry to win Wiregrass against a scrappy Wesley Chapel bunch will make for some big fireworks. And if the spring meeting between these two teams in early June was any indication of whats to come in November, you better buckle your seatbelts. Its going to be a dogfight. PROJECTIONS:1.Anclote2. Complementing the Bad Juan is the Bad Juanita, a strawberry margarita popular with the ladies and young adults. Beware, the strawberry has the same alcohol content as the original. Our Bad Juans are very smooth for a margarita, said Justin. People like them because they are delicious and also for their strong alcohol content, which is double the amount of liquor found in a bottle of wine. Elsas is owned and operated by the Hemmert family, a multigenerational restaurant family that has owned restaurants in Ohio for more than 30 years. Son Justin took over as general manager of the Lutz restaurant last fall. He grew up in the family business and worked in the kitchen through high school and college. By Jeff Odom firstname.lastname@example.org Less than two months after he was dismissed from the University of Nebraska for an off-campus incident, former Gaither High School football star Ernest Suttles is transferring to Miami. Cowboys coach Jason Stokes confirmed the defensive linemans decision to The Laker/Lutz News on Aug. 5. Suttles will sit out one year due to NCAA transfer rules. Suttles, a 2012 graduate, was a highly recruited defensive end out of high school and earned 2012 All-Laker/All-Lutz News Defensive Player of the Year honors for his contributions to Gaithers first district championship in nine years. However, shortly after arriving at Nebraska, Suttles and a teammate were kicked off the squad by Cornhuskers coach Bo Pelini after an incident at an off-campus party. In a report published by the Lincoln Journal Star, the Lincoln Police Department cited Suttles for assaulting a teammate, Nebraska linebacker David Santos, in the late evening hours on June 21. A police incident report says Suttles struck Santos in the head with a bottle, requiring multiple stitches. Suttles was ticketed for misdemeanor assault. At the end of the day, we hold our guys to a pretty high standard and thats the way its gonna be as long as Im the head football coach, Pelini told the Omaha World Herald during Big Ten Conference media day last month. Were going to help kids grow, were going to help them develop as human beings, but at the end of the day, youre not only accountable to yourself and family, but my family, anyone associated with Nebraska football and your teammates. If, at any time, something is being done a player is acting in such a way that its taking away from any of that theyre not going to be a part of our program. Suttles was a dominant force on defense for the Cowboys last season, compiling 88 total tackles, 12 for a loss of yardage, 12 sacks and four forced fumbles. He was originally verbally committed to Iowa State University, but opted to sign with the Cornhuskers at the last minute. In total, the 6-foot-5, 240-pound Suttles had 15 offers from FBS schools including Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, South Florida, Missouri and Indiana. The Hurricanes finished last season with a 7-5 overall record, 3-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Former Gaither High defensive lineman Ernest Suttles is heading to Miami after he was dismissed from the University of Nebraska football team after an off-campus incident June 21.
