INTRODUCTION:
The following architectural survey was compiled
by Peter F. Dessauer and Ted Bessette, graduate students
of the Architectural Preservation Program, College of
Architecture, University of Florida, during the autumn
quarter September-December 1975.
The primary purpose of this survey is to make an
initial inventory of the buildings in Historic Preservation
District-1, St. Augustine, Florida. This collection of forms
serves as a visual record of the structures in the first
historic zone, each page containing a separate address, its
location within a block and lot, and an identifying
photograph.
It is hoped that this survey:will encourage further
research of the houses of the Historic Preservation District-1
and help to promote a broader concept of Preservation in
the St. Augustine community to include many later 19/th and
early 20/th century structures of architectural and historical
merit within the preservation guidelines,
