MILTON HORTER'S interest in tropical fish was rather accidental. He bought some for \FJ
his son, Ernest Lee, about 2 years ago, got more interested in them than his son, and now
has about 3,000 fish, natives of South American, Asian, and southern United States waters.
His wife is a little "concerned" about having been evicted from the area beneath the house
on Owens Street, Balboa, but resigned. Horter has 40 or 50 tanks there for his fish, tll
aereated and requiring acidity and mineral content control. Tanik capacities range from
10 to 60 gallons. Angelfish, such as those shown here, are most popular, but he usually has
some unique Siamese fighting fish. HIorter is an electrician within the Power Branch, working Y
out of the Balboa sub-station. He's a member of the Canal Zone Aquarium Society, which
meets monthly and welcomes visitors and prospective new members.
