PAGE 8 | THE WIRE THE WIRE | PAGE 9 FRIDAY, SE PT EMBER 26, 2008The weekend of Sept. 20-21 provided two community service opportunities for Guantanamo Bay residents to help clean and repair the Naval Station in the wake of Hurricanes Gustav, Hannah and Ike. Volunteers picked up debris at Windmill Beach and shoveled sand, rocks and coral from the picnic shelters Sept. 20. Troopers worked to repair the wooden fort and obstacles at the Morale Welfare and Recreation Paintball Range Sept. 21. All military personnel volunteers could log their hours if any are working towards a Volunteer Service Medal. These projects were organized by Navy Ensign Ian Underwood.
