The Honorable George Gardner
Mayor, City of St. Augustine
75 King Street, Post Office Box 210
St. Augustine, Florida 32085

Re: St. Augustine Civic Center, St. Johns Co.

Dear Mayor Gardner:

It is a pleasure to advise you that the Florida National Register Review Board has
recommended that the above referenced property be nominated for listing in the National
Register of Historic Places. This recommendation was made at the January 28, 2005
meeting of the Board and is based on its review and evaluation of the nomination

The Board has returned the nomination proposal, with the review comments and
suggestions of the individual members, to our Survey and Registration staff. The staff
will review the comments of the Board and prepare a formal nomination to be submitted
to the Keeper of the National Register for final consideration.

It may be necessary in preparing the formal nomination to ask you to help us revise some
elements of the written material, or to provide some additional information or
documentation. If so, Robert Jones, the Historic Preservationist who is handling this
nomination, will let you know what is needed.

When the formal nomination has been submitted to and received by the Keeper of the
National Register, that office will have forty-five days in which to approve or disapprove
the nomination. If the nomination is approved, the property will be listed in the National
Register as of the date of approval. The forty-five day review period may be extended,
however, if the National Register staff finds technical deficiencies in the nomination
requiring correction by our office.
