resolutions, other relevant comments: NOTE: A/E must resolve all code violations
otherwise a stop work order .will be issued...

ACTIVITIES: Substantial completion inspection.

WORK INSPECTED:
1) New First Floor East Wing A/C System:
a). "York" air source heat pump air conditioning system set and operating in
cooling and heating modes. Trench floor was wet where cooling coil had
apparently prozen up due to closed return air registers.
b) Baffle installed in below-floor.slab perimeter trench isolating north section
of trench fromireturn air stream. Could not see supply register boots.
c) Exposed wood located in remaining section of trench, utilized for return'atr,
appears to be fire-rated. Stamps on some members indicate flame spread of 15'
feet and smoke spread of 40 130 feet (installed by other trades).
d) Class-1 covering over exposed conductors and PVC piping located in return
air stream.
e) Smoke detector (installed by others) mounted in horizontal air handling unit
return air intake. Smoke test of detector during inspection was inconclusive.
f) Refrigerant piping and control cable bundle serving outdoor condensing unit
and also relocated existing second floor system condensing unit: Bundle
raised and mounted on pressure treated wood supports, permitting rain water flow
to roof drain.

WORK INSPECTED, Continued:

2) Existing Second Floor A/C System Duct Modifications:
a) Fire damper located in sheet metal horizontal duct penetrating fire-rated
wall: Duct adcess door for ready access to damper fusible link missing.
Could not see installation details. Three supply registers with fire dampers lo-
cated in fire-rated wall (did not check fire damper operation).
b) Several horizontal sheet metal supports were bent down due to heavy load. A
disconnected strap hanger for one bent support was reconnected during inspection.

CONCLUSIONS: Inspected work satisfactory, subject to Recommendations below.

CODE VIOLATIONS: None.
COMMENTS: None.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1) Provide duct access door or other means of access to duct fire damper fusible
link, per Std. Mech. Code, para. 510.6.
2) Verify that fire dampers are installed in accordance with manufacturers, Installa-
tion instructions with sleeves and mounting flanges, per Std. Mech. Code, para. 510.2.1.
3) Installer should verify automatic shutdown of A/C system by smoke detector.
