Dear Mr. King:

In reply to your inspection report dated May 13, 1987, covering only
those of our buildings classified as "high hazard occupancies," here
follows our reply.
Government House

1. Stairwells

Barriers will either be installed or their use enforced to prevent
occupants from going to the basement in search of an exit.
2. Stairwells and Corridors

Self-closing, positive latch hardware will be installed on all
doors opening into exit egresses/access.

3. Administrative Offices

We will ask the legislature to provide funding so that a second
exit can be installed in the administrative offices.
4. First Floor Foyer Area
Fire rated window boxes will be installed in the lobby and the wood
area above the boxes changed to fire rated material, once we receive
the expected appropriation from the legislature. The same applies
to the East Wing door.
5. Southwest Stairs at Basement
The combustibles have been removed.

6. Northwest Stairs First Floor
The combustibles have been removed.

7. Southwest Basement

The flammable liquids stored in the fume hood will be removed.

8. Auditorium West Side

The latch has been repaired so that the door closes and latches
automatically.

9. General

If the fire safety appropriation allows us, we will install a
manual fire alarm system. Otherwise, we will request funding
from the legislature.

10. Fire Sprinkler System

A monthly service to the sprinkler system has been established
and documented by a logbook hanging near the valves.

11. Room 206

An illuminated exit sign will be installed.

12. Room C-2

Instructions have been given not to chock the door open.

13. Southwest Second Floor Access From Room 206

Emergency light bulb will be replaced.

14. Southwest Second Floor Access From Room 206

Library door will hav "Not an Exit" sign painted on it.

15. Southwest Second Floor Library

Obstruction to exit will be cleared.

16. Northwest Stairwell at Basement Level

A self-closing, positive latch will be installed on door.

17. Auditorium West Exit

Obstructing items have been removed.

18. Auditorium Platform West Side

Obstructing items have been removed.

19. Auditorium Raised Floor Area

Flagler College is investigating several possibilities and will be
conferring with their architect about this problem. Once they have
a firm plan of action they will inform us and we will, in turn, inform you.

1. First Floor Main Entry/Exit (interior stair)

The door is a fire rated door. The closing mechanism will be checked
to assure that it is self-closing positive latching. If it is not,
it will be changed. Regarding the enclosed space under the stairs,
the door will be sealed so that the space becomes unusable.
