RE: Correction of Life Safety Violations
Government House
St. Augustine, Florida
State Project DOS-8449

Project Director's Comments and Questions of 100% Construction Documents
Refer to Drawings.

DRAWINGS

A. Drawing 1, Plans No. 1, 2 and 3 "Cross in a circle", symbol is
presumed to be exit light. If so, the symbol is not explained nor is
it clear whether it is new or existing.

B. Drawing 1, Plan 1 Should there be a lighting fixture on the exterior
above the new exit door? If you agree, show fixture and required
electric wiring.

C. Drawing 1, Plan 4 Should there be an exit light in stairwell above
door No. 15?

D. Drawing 1, Section C/l, D/l, Dwg. 2, Section F-2 and G-2 Describe
stair railing in more detail.

E. Drawing 1, Section B-l Instructions are given to contractor to
connect new floor drain to existing sewer. Indicate location of
existing sewer.
Indicate thickness of new areaway block wall and show block reinforc-
ing (if any).

F. Drawing 1, Item 3 I see no purpose in retaining a full height
partition in the corridor at head of stair. The visibility of the
stair is impaired by this partition and notwithstanding the separation,
it is possible to go by the stair without seeing it.

I suggest cut partition down to 3'a6" from 4'-0" rail height or remove
entirely and install more typical metal railing.

G. Drawing 2, Section 1/2, 2/2, 3/2 Is there such a product called
"urethane caulk"?

H. Drawing 2, Section 2/2 Is there no wood trim on interior of door
casing?

I. Drawing 2, Exterior Door No. 1 Are you sure you mean 3/4" lag
screws? That is the size of the shank of the lag, not the head!
Seems excessively large.

J. Drawing 2, Section 12/2 Show height of treads and risers and
landing.

SPECIFICATIONS

K. Change the title of the project, thruout to "Correction of Life
Safety Violations".

L. Change the number of the project to DOS-8449 wherever it appears.

M. Page 5 Paragraph B-2, in blank space reserved for contractor
designation, insert, "Building/General".

N. Page 15, Paragraph B-25, Insert 120 days in blank space reserved
for substantial completion and 30 days for final completion. Insert
$75 for liquidated damages amount.

O. Page 67 Paragraph 8.4.2 Insert 4.3 in blank space.
