Dear Mr.N er :

Re: STATE PROJECT NO, DOS-8449

With reference to the February 15, 1985 report by Boyer and Boyer on the correction
of Fire Code deficiencies in Government House, the,,report was discussed with our
Director, Bill Adams, and our Museum Administrator, Bob Steinbach, and we approve
the proposals with the following observations!

On Drawing No. 3, the proposed entrance
personnel to exit from the Seminar Room
untd the Gallery proper, up the Gallery
through the West door and from there to

to the library is most awkward, requiring
into the Gallery landing, down the stairs
to the SW stairwell, into the stairwell and
turn left into the library itself.

We had talked with David Boyer about this and his letter to us of March 5, 1985,
a copy of which was sent to you, shows an amended Drawing No. 3 which would eliminate
such a roundabout ehtry to the library in favor of a second door into the library
almost in line with the door exiting from the Seminar Room.

He reviewed this with you personally during your recent visit to Government House
and it was your opinion that this approach would be possible,

With respect to the priorities, we propose the following:

1st: The door exiting from the Seminar Room
and the entrance to the library.

2nd: The door opening out on Cathedral Place
and the related work on the NW stairwell.

3rd: The West exit from the auditorium and
the related work on the SW stairwell.

Lastly, I talked with Dave Boyer today with respect to other safety deficiencies
in Government House which could very well be addressed as part of this over-all
project and I understand that Dave will be in touch with you about them.

Please let me know if you need more information from us.
