MEMO TO: R.L.GOLD
R.H.STEINBACH

FROM: H.MIRON

SUBJECT: LOBBY AND EAST WING

I TALKED YESTERDAY TO BOB WOODWARD,CHIEF, BUREAU OF
CONSTRUCTION, DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES, ABOUT
THE $137,322 APPROPRIATION WE HAVE RECEIVED FROM THE
LEGISLATURE FOR THE FIRE/SAFETY-RESTORATION OF THE
ABOVE. I TOLD HIM WE WANTED TO DO THE WORK ON A FORCE
ACCOUNT BASIS AND ASKED FOR HIS ADVISE ON HOW TO PROCEED.
MR. WOODWARD ADVISED THAT WE SHOULD WRITE HIM A LETTER
INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

1. A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF WHAT WE PLAN TO DO.

2. WHO WILL SUPERVISE THE JOB AND WHAT ARE THE
CAPABILITIES OF THE PERSON NAMED.

3. A BREAKDOWN OF HOW WE PLAN TO SPEND THE MONEY

4. AN IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE.

WE THEN TALKED ABOUT ARCHITECTS AND I MENTIONED THE RESER-
VATIONS WE HAVE ABOUT THE ARCHITECT WHO DID THE INITIAL
WORK ON PART OF THIS PROJECT. BOB WOODWARD SAID WE ARE
FREE TO SELECT WHOM WE WANT. HE ASKED WHO WOULD WRITE
UP THE CONTRACT WITH THE ARCHITECT SELECTED AND THEN SAID
THAT THEY HAVE A LOT OF EXPERIENCE IN THIS AREA AND WOULD
BE GLAD TO HELP US. THEY ALSO HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH MANY
OF THE ARCHITECTS IN THE AREA AND CAN HELP SELECT IF WE WISH.

I FOUND BOB WOODWARD FRIENDLY AND OPEN AND I BELIEVE WE
CAN FEEL FREE TO CALL HIM 278-5885 AS WE GO ALONG IF
ADVISE IS NEEDED.

IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING FROM THE FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR
OF THE BUREAU THAT THE TWO APPROPRIATIONS RECEIVED, ONE
FOR $56,122 AND THE OTHER FOR $81,200, HAVE BEEN COMBINED
AS ONE PROJECT, WHICH MAKES SENSE AND WHICH COULD BE
HELPFUL TO US.
