FAN OPERATION SELECTION

A two position fan switch allows you to choose the type operation you
want.

"AUTO"

With the thermostat fan switch set to "AUTO," the fan will run inter-
mittently as required for either heating or cooling. This position will
provide the lowest operating cost and better humidity control on
cooling operation.
"ON"

CONTINUOUS FAN OPERATION: With the thermostat Fan switch set to
"ON", your cooling and heating system will still operate as the room
temperature requires, but the indoor fan will not shut off. This provides
constant air filtering and more even air distribution to all conditioned
spaces. The sound level within the building will also remain relatively
constant.

FAN ONLY: On moderate days, usually during spring and fall, when
neither heating nor cooling is required, you may want to run only the
fan to ventilate, circulate and filter the air in your home or building. Set
the Comfort-control switch to "OFF" and the Fan switch to "ON". Be
sure to return the switches to their original positions for normal
operation.

Winter operation:
Do not turn thermostat below 68
Around outdoor unit you will notice water on the ground-
this is normal.

You may hear the unit "hum" or "buzz" this is normal.

When you first turn the unit on or sometime during
operation you may smell something burning-this is normal--
it's the heat strips that are energizing.

OUTDOOR COIL .
DEFROSTING s) W I U -
At certain outdoor conditions (low temperature, high humidity) there
may be a build up of frost and ice on the coil of the outdoor unit.
In order to maintain heating efficiency, the system will automatically
defrost itself. During the defrost cycle, you may notice steam rising
from the outdoor unit. This is normal and is an indication of proper
operation. The vapor cloud will only last for a few minutes while the
outdoor unit coil is being defrosted. When the defrost cycle is com-
pleted, the system will automatically switch back to heating.
During defrost the outdoor motor will turn off-this is normal.

On Ruud units on the outdoor unit there is a "Reset"
button. You may have to push this button if the unit
ever locks out due to high pressure.

Coleman units-If in heat or cool and the red light
comes on at the thermostat ii means the outdoor unit
is locked out-to reset-turn thermostat off and then
back on-the red light should go out.
Filters: You should check filter once a month-if its
a throway filter then throw it away and put another
one in. If its a permanent filter take it out and wash it.
