Dear Mr. Nadler:

RE: Government House East Wing/
Haas House Renovation
DOS-8375/8376

Enclosed you will find a copy of a letter we received from the
Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board. This letter indicates
that the time schedule we had previously discussed for the above
referenced project is tight and will not adequately serve our
client's requirements for using the House this summer.

We had described to our client the following schedule:

a. Approval of Documents
and Authorization to
Advertise

b. Receipt and Approval of
Bids

c. Preparation of Contracts
and Notice to Proceed

d. Construction

End of January 1984

End of February 1984

End of March 1984

60 Days-End of May 1984

In that the students who are going to use this facility are going
to arrive in May, we need to cut some three weeks out of this
schedule. We would hope that you might be able to shorten your
period for review of plans and preparation of the contracts ("a"
and "d" above). We would appreciate any suggestions you might have
as to how we might cut time out of this project. We don't feel the
construction will take longer than 60 days to complete.

Since.y,

ivis, A.I.A.

It appears as if the archaeology students will come to occupy the
Haas House during the summer semester which, as you know, begins in May.
Considering the lengthy procedures employed by the Department of General
Services in matters of this type, unless we begin to give this project high
priority it is possible that the Haas House will not be finished by the time
the students are in St. Augustine. In view of that I would like to request
that you inform Tallahassee of the need to get started with this project as
soon as possible.

Sincerely,

W li'am R. Adams
