SECTION ONE: BEACH AND OFFSHORE PROFILES

Beach and offshore profile surveys were conducted during the month of December in accordance
with the criteria established for the Quarterly Surveys. All profile lines extended a minimum
distance of 1,200 feet from the shoreline maintaining maximum overlap between beach and
offshore data collection.

The beach and offshore survey methodology was consistent with that described in the First
Annual Survey report prepared by Sea Systems Corporation, August 1993. The only exception
was that regarding the use of a permanent tide recorder located at Lake Worth Pier. This tide
recorder, specifically a Stevens Stand Alone A/F Recorder with Data Logger was installed on
Lake Worth Pier and subsequently became operational in November 1993.

Similar to the previous survey, digital data was prepared in standard D.E.P. (formerly D.N.R.)
format encompassing range and elevation (NGVD). As requested by the University, data was
also prepared in Interactive Survey Reduction Program (ISRP) Ver. 2.7 Format. A list of ISRP
profile designations have been enclosed, herewith, including diskettes depicting both formats.

Elevations were obtained on the top of each individual reef structure, south, middle, and north,
using conventional level and rod techniques. Where marine growth prohibited direct contact with
the concrete structure, a small spike of known length was used to pierce the marine growth to
assure that an accurate elevation was acquired.

The following table summarizes the results of this portion of the survey. Note that the structures
are described by both number and letter designation. The drawings included in Appendix B
should assist in identifying the location of individual reef modules.

SECTION THREE: SCOUR SURVEY RESULTS


Consistent with the overall scope of the survey, elevations parallel to and offset from the
breakwater, both seaward and landward, were obtained in addition to the shore-normal profiles.
In general, elevations were obtained at the toes and at ten (10) foot offsets from the toes of
specific reef modules to monitor potential scour induced by the submerged breakwater.

As specified by the University of Florida, on 8/27/93, the following describes the requirements
for the "Scour Survey":


Task I

Thirty (30) units to have eight (8) elevations per unit as follows:

Three (3) elevations adjacent to the toe with a fourth elevation mid-unit and (10)
feet offset from the toe. This applies to both landward and seaward toes for a total
of eight (8) elevations per unit.
