Florida Bank & Trust Co.,

Dear Sir:-
Referring to past correspondence, we hope that you may
see your way clear to give the Record your card for this year.
Reaching as we do, business men throhgout the country, not only in
the South, but in the North and central West, you can keep a card of
your facilities for banking in the South in our columns to every
advantage, and we hope you may find it entirely possible and agreeable
to give us 2 or 3 inches for this year
The space can be used for your regular card and also in
showing your statement in one or two issues as it is made to the
Comptroller at the usual periods.
We ask your special attention to our issue of last week;
its general range and scope as shown by its reading pages; the special
articles indicating the activities and possibilities of the South; and
the general character of its advertising patrons and their number.
We have quite a few Southern banking institutions advertising
with us now, and we hope that we may have the pleasure of numbering the
Florida Bank & Trust Company among them.
Awaiting your commands, we are,
Very truly you rs,
MANUFUA/TUREI RE0C0 00.

Dear Sir:-
Yours received on my return home.
In reply would say, that I don't think our folks would be very fav-
orable to taking up the proposition that you speak of, because the
price is pretty well up, and then to charge interest on it would make
it a very expensive investment.
With kind regards,etc.

Dear Governor:
I am sending you a letter which I have just received
from Mr Varn near Brooksville. I am told that he is broadening his
business and that he will soon need a good man, and as I am VERY
anxious to learn the turpentine and lumber business, thought he would
be the best man for me to strike. I am determined to get out of
the office work, not that I am dissatisfied with Mr. Croom for he is
just one of the finest men in the world. I know Mr. Croom appre-
ciates my capabilities, etc., as Hardy told me that he said I was
one of the best he had in his office. I want to get out and do some-
thing for myself, and if I wait much longer it will be too late. I
feel that if I could get started with such a man as Varn that I would
soon be commanding a good price or I would launch out for mys >elf,
My main object, Governor, in trying to get this plaoe though, is to
learn and become acquainted with the turpentine and lumber business,
for I appreciate the fact that no man would care to back me without
the knowledge and experience. I send you this letter with the re-
quest, if it is consistent with your way of thinking, that you write

My dear Governor:-
I have just learned of the very shabby treat-
ment which you have received at the hands of some of your sup-
posed friends in the Florida Bank & Trust company, and must say
that I am astonished at their base ingratitude.
I do not know what your plan are for the future, but
have no doubt that you will be able to make more money at the
practice of your profession than you have been making in your
official position with the bank.
With Mr best wishes for your success, I remain,
Yours sincerely,

Hon. W. S. Jennings,
Jacksonville, Florida.
Dear Governor:-
For the last two months and over, I have
been absent from the City nearly all the time, and last
evening I received your telegram dated Dec. 7, 1905, in
reference to the sale of twenty thousand acres of land.
I regret very keenly that you did not get a reply to your
message, but as I said before, last night was the first time
that I discovered it. If the parties holding the land
have not disposed of it yet, would you kindly write and tell
me what particular portion of the everglades that it is
located in, and any other description as to it's value that
you might know. If it is still open, I will wire you immediately
on receipt of your reply to this letter.
Trusting that yourself and Mrs. Jennings
are well, and although late, Mrs. Hereley joins with me
in wishing you a very happy New Year, and a prosperous one, too.
Yours respectfully,

C I t y.
My dear Sin-
I wanted you to know that I regret that you were
murdered in the dark by your supposed friends in yesterday's
meeting of the Directors of the Florida Bank & Trust Company. I
have heard nothing but condemnation of the course pursued which
accomplished the election of the present officers, and in partic-
ular the way in which you were treated. This condemnation comes
as well from people who are not supposed to be particularly friend-
ly to you, such as Geo. W. Wilson and John E. Hartridge, as well
as all fairminded people.
If I can ever serve you in any capacity, please command
me.
Very sincerely yours,
