W. S. Jennings, Esq.
Brooksville, Fla.
Dear Sir:-
In the matter of our correspondence relative to the settlement
of the balance due on your loan contract, we have looked tnto yourr claim
that the books of the local Secretary shower 1tht yo. had. pri all i-
stalrient through the :")nth of De~rb.i erand. slbmrt h. -- th the following
stater.:en of facts and we be. that you take the 'iatt-r in hand and go
over the amount carefully and view the matter as evidence that will be
introduced by us in the event you. go into the Courts as intimated in your
former letter.
We thirk that you will very readily perceive that the account
book of the local Secretary is wrong and probably due to Mr.Jenni ngAi
or his predecessor having entered the memorandum of amounts remitted for
sone month twice, that t. in two colrmns. This supposition is borne
out by the fact that Mr.Jennings states that no "meFrmor-vi dum of the time
of payment was entered in hirecordl book anrl that so far as e is couenl- i
he ;1:.erely continued his entries of the amounts paid each .:.'1'th '**.": ;':':
his predecessor left off ani thatt it seem to himr now that the stocrt0l-
ders have been paying in advance. This supposition is not borne out
by the pass books of the ~tockiholders which have been submitted to us
and which contain an accurate rmemor:-ndum of the payments .ade and the date
of payment under the signature- of the respective Secretaries.
The said. ass books correspond with our L rqIge, arnd all of them
show receipts for the correct number of payments due under the terms of
the contract, although just one less than the number appearing in the
record book of the local Secretary. We have .x.-:Ai.ined. tl pass books"
