Dear Sir:-
About all the information recently had in relation to you
are the references from time to time seen in Ocala papers touching
j yoar canvass for the next nomination for governor. Judging by these
references, it is easy sailing and you will be readily nominated. Of
course, however, with the other aspirants seeking the same position
dividing the vote of the State as it will be in Convention, it will
require wise and constant work to weld together a sufficient vote to
secure a nominate on.
So soon as I get home aLain, I will send you the full re-
port of the proceedings of last State Convention made 1y me. I
could not very well get access to them while I am away from home.
They are t lly written up and safely preserved. How is the Colket
property on Picciola Inland doin7- Is'she.givin the grove thorough
attention? Were many of the trees totally destroyed? Hol is the
grove at Citra looking? I hope they are both prospering.
Yours very truly,

Dear Sir:-
W/e lhe-ewith hand -you claim againstt Paul Boellett, Crystal River,
Fla. amounting to A'163.73. We enclose a copy of the contract v'-ich he
signed and a copy of the invoice and copies of all letters that have passed
between us. You will notice that he claims that he was to have the long
terms of credit without giving notes. The contact distinctly provides
that it was to be a cash t-ansaction unless he closes the account by note,
and that all verbal or sepa-ate written agreements made with the salesman
;ere to be void and not binding on us. The time in which he was to have
the privilege of settling by note has long expired, but we herewith en-
close a set of notes dated today. If he will sign them, ':e will accept
them in settlement of the claim. We think probably you can get settlement
in this ".ay without suit. If, however, you are unable to ef-'ect a settle-
ment without suit, please advise us and -we will instruct you further.

No. 123 Dock Street October 13, 1899.
Judge W. 3, Jennings,
Brooksville, Fla.
My .rear Sir:-
Mr. Justice has promised to place a mortgage on an orange
grove in Florida, through my recommendation. 3ince so arranging, he
has received a letter from the party owning the grove requesting him to
make a false statement, by writing a letter stating that he was unable
to make him the loan; saying he wanted to use the letter in a business
deal. This has caused Mr. Justice to feel very suspicious about the
man, and I wish to know' whether a transfer of property or a mortgage
issLied and not recorded would come in a head of his mortgage, in case
his was recorded as soon as issued. Any pointers given will be greatly
appreciated.
Remember me kindly to Mrs. Jennings.
Yours very respectfully,

Dear Sir:-
Ypur favor of the 13" received. I am expecting at no
distance date to get back to Citra, and will see you in reference
to the first subject embraced in your letter.
Whether the Hanover Company will prove a success is veryiprob-
lematic.
I have not abandoned the desire to still make some arrangement
with Mr. Colket, for the acquisition to the property at Citra. Do
you think he would be disposed to treat on that subject, somewhat on
the bases of my past propositions, or if he would still insist upon
spot cash payment in full for the property as in the past?
Yours ,truly,

Oct. 17th, 1899.
Hon. W. S. Jennings,
Brooksville, Florida.
Dear Judge:-
I am in receipt of your favor of the 13th inst. enclosing
check for $18.13 to take up certain tax certificates for you, and will
say in reply that when interviewing the Clerk I ascertained that the
amount named by the Abstract Company of taxes on this property merely
represented the original figureS and did not include the twenty-five
per cent interest and costs of redemption. The Clerk has made a memoran-
divn on the back of the statement, which I herewith return to you, show-
ing $25.78 necessary to cancel these certificates. In addition to this
will be the $2.oo charge made by the Abstract Company. I herewith re-
turn you your check, as I presume you do not care to have two checks
out on the same transaction, and I will be glad to comply with your
further instructions in the premises.
Yours very truly,
Dict. S.
