Minutes of the meeting of the Trustees of the Llambias House,
held in the office of David R. Dunham, Saturday, March 29, 1947,
there being present:

A. J. Hanna
Alfred Houston
H. E. Wolfe
X. L. Pellicer
David R. Dunham, President of
The St. Augustine Historical Society

Mr. Pellicer opened the meeting and stated that Mr. Ray
Vinten was unable to be present on account of illness. He also
called attention to the Board that one of the Trustees, Honorable
George Cooper Gibbs died some months ago.

Mr. Pellicer read the minutes of the last meeting, held
June 8, 1945 at the Llambias House.

David R. Dunham explained to the Trustees regarding the title
to the property and also explained the duties and powers of the
Trustees.

Mr. Pellicer stated that the meeting was called for the purpose
of considering a nominee for the vacancy on the Board of Trustees
due to the death of Judge Gibbs; also, for the purpose of making
some decision as to the present status of the Llambias House. In
this connection, Mr. Pellicer advised the Trustees that the St.
Augustine Historical Society had expended around $300.00 on the
grounds and had minor repairs done on the building. The discussion
then ensued as to the possible future use of the building. -Mr.
Pellicer made a suggestion along the following lines: that the
Llambias House be offered to the St. Augustine Restoration and
Preservation Association as headquarters with the understanding
that the Restoration group would agree to cooperate with the St.
Augustine Historical Society or other agencies or individuals in
making needed permanent repairs to the building. The consensus
of opinion of those present was that they looked with favor upon
such an arrangement if it could be worked out to the mutual satis-
faction of the Restoration group and the Trustees of the Llambias
House.

Mr. Houston made a motion that the Secretary of the Trustees
Board write a letter to the Acting President of the St. Augustine
Restoration and Preservation Association calling their attention
to the willingness of the Trustees of the Llambias House to enter
into negotiations with the Restoration group, looking to the
acquisition by the Restoration group of the Llambias House for use
as headquarters on some agreeable lease basis. Also, the Secretary
was requested to ask the Restoration group:

1. To define what they mean by restoration and preservation
as related to the Llambias House.

2. 'To suggest some basis that they would be willing to discuss
the use of the Llambias House as their headquarters, with reference
to the amount of money they would be willing to spend for needed
repairs to the House.

3. To express their opinion as to the advisability of en-
gaging some competent architect to study the building in order to
'formulate plans for its restoration and preservation. ,.

This motion was seconded by A. J. Hanna and duly carried.

The subject of filling the 'vacancy of Judge Gibbs was discussed
and the suggestion was made that Mr. T. A. Mellon, Sr. be interviewed
and asked to accept this appointment. Mr. Pellicer agreed to see
Mr. Mellon.

Motion was made by A. J. Hanna that the St. Augustine Historical
Society and Institute of Science be thanked for their participation
in doing necessary minor repairs to the building and cleaning the
yard of the Llambias House. Motion was seconded by H. E. Wolfe and
carried.

There being no other business, the meeting adjourned.
