Historic Fatio House On Yule Tour

The opening of the historic
Xiienez-Fatio House will be a
first this year for the upcoming
Christmas Tour of Homes and
Gardens, sponsored by the
Presidents Council of Garden
Clubs.
This house, located on Aviles
Street, is a museum house,
under the care of the National
Society of Colonial Dames of
America. It is listed on the
National Register of Historical
Places.
AN EARLY SPANISH map,
dated 1764, shows the lot where
the Ximenez-Fatio house now
stands. The structure was built
around 1798 by Andres Ximenez
and has been recognized as an
outstanding example of the
dwellings built during the

second Spanish occupation.
The building is described as a
blend of Spanish and English
styles.

After two other owners, the
property was purchased in 1855
by Miss Louisa Fatio. In 1939,
