The Story

It is a very simple situation, A widow with five children
married a second time. Two of her daughters wed men in St.
Augustine, one girl having three children to carry on the
line and the other with two children to bring us down to
this Block "A" in 1763.

Maria Belen, native, married Francisco Contreras pre 1660.
Of her five legitimate children from him, Ana Maria and Juana
were the ones who took up the task of carrying on the line.
Their mother remarried in 1673 ..........JOSE VALDARAMA
They often used the name of this step-father, seldom
that of their real father and more than once the name
of their mother, BELEN. It was only by chance in the
first place that I stumbled upon their proper heritage.
Juana married the British ex-prisoner, WILLIAM CAR 1677
He was baptised in 1676 possibly to marry her in the church.
Of this union three of their children lead us to Block "A".
Lucia Car, Juan Car, Ana Maria Car.
Before we go on to them we note the marriage of Juana's sister,
Ana Maria Belen Contreras, 1692 to Josef Sanchez. Of their brood
two carry on the line to bring us to Block"A" in 1763.
Now we can pass to Maria Belen VALDARAMA'S grandchildren.

Lucia Car married Pablo Perdomo
in 1719 and their daughter, Maria
C. Perdomo y Car married Don Bentura
Diaz in 1741. It is his name that
appears on the map plan of 1763. BENTURA DIAZ
Ana Maria Car married Jose Hypelito in 1705
and her daughter, Ana Hypolito married
Juan Santoyo in 1724. Barbara Santoyo
was born Feb. 27, 1725.. She is one of
the names listed.. BARBARA SANTOYO
Juan Car married Manuela de Torres in 1713
Their daughter, Maria Dolores Car, born
1716 married Bartolome Nieto Carvajal in
1731. Their son Pedro Nieto, was born
Aug. 13 1737...Ais is another name on
the 1763 map plan..... PEDRO NIETO

Bartolome Nieto de la Cruz had another
son Bartolome, Jr. who was the father of Sebastian
de.la Cruz, born Jan. 30, 1725. His is another name
on the list.

SEBASTIAN de la CRUZ

All these children and grandchildren
through JUANA CAR, Mrs. William Car.

Now to Mrs3 Sanchez:
Ana Maria, the other daughter had married
Josef Sanchez and Oad, among her brood, Lorensa Sanchez
and Manuel Sanchez.

Loreasa married Domingo Serrano who was
killed by the Indians, Burials, 1734. Her name is listed
in both 32 and 34, also 54 across the street in B1. "C".

LORENSA SANCHEZ

Manuel Sanchez married Juana Serrano and
had a daughter, Juana Sanchez, who was married to Jose
Garcia of Taragona. Manuel had married Miss Serrano
fn 1721 and their daughter had married in 1744. After
Manuel's death Juana Serrano married Tomas Ramos. It
the name of the former Mrs. Manuel Sanchez' 2nd husband
and the name of her daughter's current husband which
appears on the list of 1763.
