HISTORIC ST. AUGUSTINE PRESERVATION BOARD

FILE MEMORANDUM
DATE: August 7, 1973
SUBJECT: Montgomery (Yaneda) House

Report on telephone conversation with Randy Nimnicht, Historic Preserva-
tionist, Department of Archives, History and Records Management, Tallahassee.
Nimnicht reports that the federal appropriation for historic preservation
has not yet passed Congress. When this is done, the Department of the
Interior will allocate the funds to the several states based on a formula.
Until notification of the amount of this allocation is received in Talla-
hassee, they will not know how much money they have to work with. This
information should be available in the fall, but perhaps as late as November.

The Yaneda House project has a high priority In the state program, and pros-
pects appear good if the total federal program is adequately funded.

Addendum

October 2, 1973
Mr. William Thurston of Archives and History was in office. Stated that
there was still no word from Washington, but felt optimistic about the project,
assuming anticipated level of funding.
