the Isthmus held their annual elec-
tions during the first 2 weeks of
November. Here are the name's of

Free In-Service Training Available To Employees


Some 40 to 45 employees of the
Panama Canal are being processed
each month in the correspondence
training courses offered by the Na-
tional Independent Study Center,
Denver Region, U.S. Civil Service
Commission, Denver, Colo.
The eight courses offered to Fed-
eral employees nationwide are: Posi-
tion Management and Position Clas-
sification; Basic Personnel Manage-
ment; Preparation for Retirement;
Equal Employment Opportunity;
Personnel Clerk Functions; Writing
Analytical Reports; Practical Statis-
tics; and Programed English.
All Canal organization employees
are eligible to apply for the courses
subject to management approvals
based upon a showing that the
course is related to the employee's
official duties. Enrollment is limited
to two courses at one time and
course completion varies from 4 to
6 months. The Personnel Bureau
is notified when the course is com-
pleted and a training record is
placed in the employee's personnel
file. Since tuition charges for these
courses are paid by the Canal orga-
nization, there is no cost to the
employee.
Nominations for these courses are
made on 10-part SF-170 training
request forms, and to avoid delays
in processing, the form should be
completed accurately. It should also
show a completed and accurate
mailing address since the course
materials are sent directly to the
employee.
In the traditional classroom, more
and more employees are taking ad-
vantage of the Personnel Bureau's
Training Program by attending
classes conducted by the Train-
ing and Management Development
Staff. From 20 to 25 employees are
participating- in each of the 4 or 5
training courses being offered each
month on both sides of the Isthmus.
These courses run anywhere from
2 days to 2 weeks, some meeting
for a few hours mornings only,
others, all day.
The principal objectives of the
training program are to develop
among agency employees skills not
available through existing recruit-
ment sources; to improve employee
performance of current duties; to
assist the upward mobility of lower


level employees; to provide em-
ployees with skills, knowledge and
attitudes necessary to accommodate
to changing policies, technology,
equipment or mission assignment;
and to provide the agency's future
manpower requirements through
the systematic development of high
potential employees.
Classes conducted for supervisory
and management training include
one or more sessions of the follow-
ing courses: Advanced Management
Seminar, Basic Management Tech-
niques, Introduction to Supervision,
Leadership and Supervision Insti-
tute, Middle Management Institute,
The Supervisor and Human Be-
havior, Economic Analysis for Deci-
sion Making, Industrial Instruction
Techniques, Management by Ob-
jectives, Workshop in Personnel
Management for Managers, Crea-
tive Problem Solving, Human Be-
havior and Communication, Psy-
chology and the Management of
Human Resources, Supervision and
Group Performance, Conference
Leadership, Effective Briefing Tech-
niques, Effective Letter Writing for
Managers, Employee Counseling,
and Public Speaking.
Courses offered to employees
generally, include: Work Simplifica-
tion, Plain Letters Workshop, Better


Office Skills and Services, Secretar-
ial Decision Making, and Telephone
Etiquette and Effective Oral Com-
munications.
Training courses are determined
by the needs of the agency. Should
an organizational unit require train-
ing for its employees but finds no
course readily available, the Train-
ing Staff will provide assistance in
locating or developing a suitable
course.
Employees of other Government
agencies on the Isthmus are per-
mitted to participate in courses
offered by the Training and Man-
agement Development Staff on a
space available basis.
The responsibility for training is
shared by the employee and his
supervisor. They know what skills
and knowledge the employee has
and what more he should learn to
meet the demands of' today's job
and tomorrow's advancement. It
should be remembered that training,
however, is based on management
determination of needs; it is not an
employee fringe benefit or right.

First-Hand Look at Issues


U.S. Senate majority leader
Robert C. Byrd and six of his cbl-
leagues were on the Isthmus for
4 days last week on a fact-finding
trip in connection with the new
United States- Panama treaties.
The six Democratic senators ac-
companying Byrd were: Howard
Metzenbaum, Ohio; Walter Hud-
dleston, Kentucky; Spark M.' Mat-
sunaga, Hawaii; Donald Reigle, Jr.,
Michigan; Paul S. Sarbanes, Mary-
land; and James Sasser, Tennessee.
The senators had a full schedule
in the Canal Zone that began on
Wednesday with visits in the homes
of civic representatives.
On Friday morning the delega-
tion was taken on a helicopter
flight over the Canal Zone and
later attended a briefing at the U.S.
Southern Command.
They met with Gov. H. R. Par-
fitt for the first time at a luncheon
in the Governor's home on Friday.
Afterward the Governor briefed
them on the Canal operation in the

Electrical Outage
There will be an electrical outage
in the townsite of Gatun on Novem-
ber 22 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. During
the outage, the Electrical Division
will be installing capacitors to im-
prove voltage regulation in the
Gatun area.

Later the same afternoon the
senators were taken on a tour of
the Pedro Miguel Locks and had
an opportunity to witness a ship in
transit and view work in progress
on the east lane, which was de-
watered and out of service.
During their stay the senators
received briefings at the U.S. Em-
bassy and spent a day in the interior
of the Republic of Panama.

December Date Set

For Clyde Willman

Retirement Party
Clyde A. Willman, Principal of
Balboa High School, will be hon-
ored at a retirement party on Satur-
day, December 10, at the Fort
Amador Officers' Club.
A no-host social hour will be
held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., when
guests will be seated for dinner.
Music for dancing will be pro-
vided by the Ray- Claes Duet from
7 to 11 p.m.
Tickets, including the cost of
dinner and a gift, are $7.50 per
person and are available from Pns-
cilla Lane at the Balboa High
School Office.

It was a red letter day for 16 members of the Gaskin family when they
received their Certificates of U.S. Citizenship from Jose Simonet, fifth
from left, General Attorney, Nationality Citizenship Office. The two
brothers, William Alfred Gaskin and Henry Archibald Gaskin, and their
sister, Annie Waple Mitchell, were able to prove that they, and thus their
children, are U.S. citizens by virtue of the fact that their mother was born
in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Their father, Frederick A. Gaskin, came to the


Isthmus during Canal construction days and was a retired employee of
the Municipal Engineering Division of the Panama Canal Company at the
time of his death. From left are: William Gaskin and his children William
Junior, Rhoda, and Emile; Henry Gaskin and Narcisa, Reinaldo, Alva,

can follow some basic guidelines
that will help us help you.
First and foremost, remember
that our publication runs on dead-
lines. The deadline for submitting
an article or photograph for publica-
tion is the Friday proceeding the
Friday you hope to see it in print.
A Friday or Monday holiday sets
the deadline back on6 day to Thurs-
day. The earlier you get the item in
to the Press Office, the better your

lowell's name and that of his pool have been added

Today for Fir

Students at Cristobal Junior-Senior
High School who are considering
attending college after graduation
will have three opportunities during
the 1977-78 school year to use the
American College Testing Assess-
ment Program, a guidance-oriented
service that is used each year by
students throughout the United
States as part of their college and
career planning.
The first of three dates on which
the ACT Assessment tests will be
offered is 8 a.m., tomorrow, Novem-
ber 19. Junior or senior students
planning to take the exams on that
date must register in advance with
Robert Mowery, Counselor. All
exams will be given in the high
school library.
The test will be offered again on
February 11, 1978, with registra-
tion from November 14 to Jan-
uary 13; and on April 1, 1978, with
registration from February 6 to
March 3.
It takes students about 3 hours
to complete four standarized exams
in the Test Section, which cover

At 'Bridge' Tomorrow

The Canal Zone Gem and Min-
eral Society will hold its annual fall
show at The Bridge, the Balboa
community center, from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m., tomorrow, November 19.
Society members' displays entered
in competition may be viewed
throughout the day. Members will
also offer for sale many handmade
items crafted from semiprecious
stones. Admission is free.

Decals Arrive; Inspections Begin


Decals for the annual inspection
of commercial vehicles licensed in
the Canal Zone have been received
by the Motor Transportation Divi-
sion in Ancon and Cristobal.
Inspections will be conducted
now to December 30, from 7 to
11 a.m. and 12 to 3:30 p.m.,, Mon-
day through Friday, except holidays.
The inspection, which costs $2,
covers brakes, lighting system,


mirrors, reflectors, windows and
windshield glass, tires, turn indi-
cators, horns, windshield wipers,
steering, alinement of wheels, ex-
haust systems and other operating
parts of the vehicles, as well as the
construction of buses, which affects
safety.
A copy of a valid Canal Zone
registration must be presented with
the vehicle at the time of inspection.


Sixth graders at Fort Gulick Elementary School take a flying leap at the
standing broad jump in their hurry to complete a seven-part obstacle
course in their school gymnasium. The activity was part of a 2-day
program put on for the benefit of parents and friends by children in
kindergarten through sixth grade to show the skills they are learning in
the school's physical education department.

Six women from the Canal Zone
are attending the National Women's
Conference in Houston, Tex., from
November 18 to 21. The conference
climaxes meetings held in each
state and U.S. territory over the
past year. Elected delegates to the
National Women's Conference will
recommend a National Plan of
Action to improve the status of
women to the President and to
Congress.

John Fryxell Counts Birds Heading South for Winter


For the past month a solitary
figure has been perched each day
on the cement wall at the head of
the Administration Building stairs,
oblivious to the constant stream of
passersby. His eyes are riveted to
the sky and he looks away only long
enough to pick up his camera or
binoculars.
Employees entering the building
cast wistful glances at the young
man in cutoffs and sandals who has
nothing to do all day but bask in
the Panama sunshine. But appear-
ances are deceiving.
John Fryxell is, in fact, hard at
work. As a zoology major in his
senior year at the University of
British Columbia, he was hired by
the Smithsonian Tropical Research
Institute to study three species of
migratory birds, the Swainson's
hawk, the broadwinged hawk, and
the turkey vulture. Fryxell concen-
trates all his attention skyward from
about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. because he
is making actual counts of the
species, in addition to studying their
altitude, velocity, flight patterns, and
behavior under different weather
conditions.
The birds are North American
species from the United States that
migrate each autumn to South
America. All three species fly only
over land, concentrating in this area
because of the convergence of sea
and land. Balboa and Panama City
provide a natural funnel for birds
that orient themselves by following
the coastline.
Fryxell identifies the birds with
binoculars and counts them with
the naked eye and by photographing
as much of the sky as possible,
counting the birds in the photog-
raph, and extrapolating from that

number to predict the population.
He has seen as many as 30,000 birds
in a 2-hour period. Most people
do not notice them, he said, because
the birds apparently do not eat
during the period of their migration.
The information he is collecting
will be used by Fryxell in writing
a thesis for his bachelor of science
degree, but more importantly, it
will provide the basis for further
study by those concerned with pre-
venting birds from striking aircraft.


Fryxell explained that airplanes
have crashed as a result of birds
flying through the windshield.
The flight patterns of these huge
concentrations of birds and the fact
that changes in the weather may
affect their migration route is of
great importance to the Federal
Aviation Administration and the
military, who are cooperating with
Fryxell by providing radar informa-
tion and by taking him up in air-
planes to take census.


Gilead will attend as the Army's
Federal Women's Program Coor-
dinator, and Tonia Lasater, a social
worker, is the Delegate at Large.

Diablo Toyland Open

Diablo Toyland will be open
every day of the week from Friday,
November 25 to Friday, Decem-
ber 23.
Toyland hours will be 1 p.m. to
8 p.m. on Monday, Thursday and
Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday
and Sunday.
Coco Solo Toyland will continue
to be open the regular department

C.Z. College Continues

Weekly Film Series
The Canal Zone College con-
tinues its weekly film series with
the fourth part of Alistair Cooke's
America: A Personal History of the
United States, Tuesday, Novem-
ber 22, at 7 p.m.
This section, "Inventing a Nation"
shows how it took a decade to
hammer out a constitution based on
what Cooke calls our three great
principles: compromise, compromise,
compromise. The -secret Indepen-
dence Hall debates involving
Hamilton, Mason and Madison set
precedence for modern politics,
while a visit to Jefferson's Virginia
home, Monticello, gives insight into
the mind which created our Bill of
Rights. Then a westward surge fol-
lows Daniel Boone across the Ap-
palachians, expanding the character
of the new republic beyond the
imagining of the learned and grace-
ful men of the 18th century.
The public is cordially invited to
view these 52-minute films at the
Canal Zone College auditorium on
Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m.

Passes With Pets

Still Not Tagged

By now every dog and cat in the
Canal Zone should be wearing a
new license tag as proof that these
animals have been registered by
their owners.
Pet owners who have neglected
to have their dogs or cats registered
are reminded that November 1 was
the deadline for animal registration
without an appointment.
Canal Zone regulations require
that a dog or a cat 4 months old or
older must be innoculated against
rabies.
Dogs are vaccinated every 3 years
but must have a new license every
year. Cats, however, are innoculated
every year and must have a new
license every year.
Pacific side pet owners should
take their pets to the Corozal
Animal Hospital but first call
52-3457 for an appointment. Pet
owners on the Atlantic side should
Scall the Animal Hospital in Mindi,
telephone 43-1912.
Cost of the rabies vaccination, li-
cense and tag is $5 for Canal orga-
nization employees and for pet
owners who live on military reserva-
tions.


Public Service Awards

Entering Eighth Year
The Panama Canal Public Serv-
ice Award recognizes residents or
organizations of the Isthmian com-
munity for voluntary acts or serv-
"ices that have benefited the Canal
organization or the community. The
award is the highest granted lo-
cally.
Since the program's implementa-
tion in 1970, 141 worthy individ-
uals and organizations have been
cited for their outstanding con-
tributions.
There are three levels to the
award. The highest level recognizes
service that has had Canal organiza-
tion-wide or Isthmian-wide impact;
the second level, service to a sector
of the Canal organization or com-
munity, such as to a bureau or on
one side of the Isthmus; and the
third level of the award recognizes
service to a division, townsite or
military installation.
Winners are awarded gold, silver,
or bronze medallions in a public
ceremony.
In December, the nominations
for the Public Service Awards will
be called for from the various serv-
ice, church, community, social and
fraternal organizations in the Canal
Zone.

CFC Fund Drive Tops Goal at Last


Five days after the last day of
the Combined Federal Campaign,
contributions by the non-Panama
Canal agencies brought the annual
drive to a successful conclusion
with total contributions reaching
$397,367.70 or 102.2 percent of this
year's goal.
All but one of the non-Panaama
Canal agencies exceeded their goals,
Army leading this group with con-
tributions reaching $120,550.34 or
160.7 percent of its assigned goal.
In the Panama Canal organiza-


tion, the Supply and Community
Service Bureau and the Personnel
Bureau only achieved their assigned
goals. Other bureaus fell short of
their targets, resulting in the Canal
organization reaching only 91.4 per-
cent of goal in this year's drive.
Funds contributed to the Com-
lined Federal Campaign will be
used to support the 23 participating
agencies in the Canal Zone United
Way and 6 organizations which
make up the International Service
Agencies.

para el curso son enviados directa-
mente al empleado.
En el traditional sal6n de classes.
mas y mAs empleados se estan apro-
vechando del Programa de Instruc-
ci6n de la Direcci6n de Personal y
asisten a las classes dictadas por el
Centro de Adiestramiento. Entre
20 y 25 empleados estan participan-
do en cada uno de los 4 6 5 cursos
ofrecidos cada mes en ambos secto-
res del Istmo. Estos cursos tienen
una duraci6n de 2 dias a 2 semanas,
algunos reuni6ndose s61o unas horas
en las mafianas y los otros todo el
dia.
Los objetivos principles del pro-
grama de instrucci6n son desarrollar
entire los empleados de las agencies
las habilidades que no pueden obte-
nerse a trav6s de las fuentes exis-
tentes de reclutamiento; mejorar el
desempefio del empleado en funcio-


nes actuales; ayudar la movilidad
ascendente de los empleados de ni-
vel inferior; proveer a los emplea-
dos habilidades, conocimientos y ac-
titudes necesarios para que puedan
adaptarse a cambios en la political,
tecnologia, equipo o misi6n asigna-
da y proveer los recursos humans
para ej future por medio del desa-
rrollo sistematico de empleados con
un alto potential.

Los cursos de instrucci6n son de-
terminados conforme las necesida-
des de la agencia. Si una unidad
require instrucci6n para sus em-
pleados pero encuentra que no hay
tales cursos disponibles, el Centro
de Adiestramiento le ayudara a lo-
calizar o desarrollar un curso ade-
cuado.
Los empleados de las otras agen-
cias gubernamentales en el Istmo
podrin participar en cursos ofreci-
dos por el Centro de Adiestramiento
segdn los cupos disponibles.
La responsabilidad de la instruc-
ci6n es compartida por el empleado
y su supervisor. Ellos saben las ha-
bilidades y conocimientos que posee
el empleado y qu6 mis debe apren-
der para hacer frente a las exigen-
cias del empleo de hoy dia y cl
advance de mafiana. Hay que recor-
dar que la instrucci6n, no obstante,
estA basada en la determinaci6n de
la administraci6n, y no es un dere-
cho o beneficio adicional para el

Freeland Hallowell, fila del centro segundo de la
izquierda, sostiene su "trofeo" por haber merecido el
primer lugar durante el Octavo Concurso Anual para
escoger al Mejor Salvavidas Estudiante de la Zona del
Canal. El nombre de Hallowell y el de su piscina han
sido afiadidos a la list de site previous ganadores del
Trofeo del Mejor Salvavidas. El anillo indica que este
trofeo es rotativo y se exhibe en la Piscina de Balboa.
Los salvavidas fueron evaluados por su habilidad en
tacticas de salvamento y rescate del fondo, lanzamiento
de salvavidas y resucitaci6n de boca a boca. Los seis
jueces para el concurso fueron, fila de atris, izquierda

Llegan Etiquetas; Comienza Revisado


Las etiquetas de revisado annual
de vehiculos comerciales registrados
en la Zona del Canal fueron recibi-
das por la Divisi6n de Transporte a
Motor en Anc6n y Crist6bal.
Los revisados seran llevados a
cabo desde el present hasta el 30
de diciembre de 7 a 11 a.m. y de
12 del dia a 3:30 p.m. de lunes a
viernes con excepci6n de los dias
feriados.
El revisado cuesta $2 y cubre los


frenos, sistema de luces, espejos, re-
flectores, ventanas y parabrisas, al
igual que llantas, luces direcciona-
les, bocinas, limpiaparabrisas, direc--
ci6n, alineamiento de ruedas, siste-
ma de escape y otras parties funcio-
nales del vehiculo, al igual que
parties de la construcci6n de auto-
buses que afectan la seguridad.
Al presentarse para el revisado
deberA mostrarse una copia vAlida
del registro en la Zona del Canal.


Los estudiantes del sexto grado de la escuela primaria de Fuerte Gulick
ejecutan un salto de acrobacia en su afin de completar un curso de
obsticulos de site etapas que se realize en el gimnasio de su plantel.
Esta actividad form parte de un program de 2 dias presentado por los
nifios ante sus padres y amistades. Participaron alumnos desde el kinder
hasta el sexto grado para demostrar lo aprendido en el departamento de
educaci6n fisica de la escuela.

A Conferencia Nacional de Mujeres


Seis mujeres de la Zona del Canal
asistirAn a la Conferencia Nacional
de Mujeres en Houston, Texas, del
18 al 21 de noviembre. La confe-
rencia culmina las reuniones que
se celebraron en cada estado y te-
rritorio estadounidense durante el
transcurso del afio. Las delegadas
elegidas a asistir a la Conferencia
presentarAn al Presidente y al Con-
greso sus recomendaciones para un
Plan Nacional de Acci6n a fin de
mejorar el estado de las mujeres.

John Fryxell Estudia Emigracion Invernal de Aves


Desde hace un mes cada dia se
viene observando a una solitaria fi-
gura sentada en el muro de con-
creto en la parte superior de las es-
caleras del Edificio de Administra-
ci6n que hace caso omiso del flujo
constant de los transe6ntes. Sus
ojos estAn fijados en el cielo y des-
via su mirada s61o para tomar su
camara o gemelos.
Los empleados que entran al edi-
ficio dirigen miradas interrogantes al
joven que viste pantalones cortos y
sandalias y que aparentemente no
tiene nada que hacer todo el dia
que tomar el sol de PanamA. Pero
las apariencias engafian.
John Fryxell estA, en verdad, tra-
bajando. Es especialista en zoologia
y cursa su tiltimo afio en la Univer-
sidad de Columbia BritAnica. Fue
empleado por el Institute Smith-
sonian para la Investigaci6n Tro-
pical para hacer un studio de tres
species de aves migratorias, el hal-
co6n Swainson, el halc6n de alas an-
chas y el buitre. Fryxell dedica today
su atenci6n hacia cl cielo dcsde las
8 a.m.'hasta las 4 p.m. porque estA
haciendo un contco actual de las es-
pecies ademAs de' estudiar su altura,
velocidad, hibitos de vuelo, y com-
portamiento bajo dlistintas condicio-
ncs atmosfericas.

Icamericanas de los Estados Unidlos
que- emigran a Am6rica del Stur
cada otoFio. Las tres ospecics vuelan
sobre tierra,'conccntrindose en esta
area debido a la convergencia del
mar y la tierra. Balboa y la ciudad
de Panamti proven un tiincl natu-
ral para los pajaros (que s orientan
siguiendo la costa.
Fryxell identifica los pajaros con
sus gemelos y los cuenta a simple
vista y toma fotografias de lo mAs
que pfieda del cielo, contando los
pajaros en la fotografia para calcu-
lar la poblaci6n total. Ha visto hasta
30,000 pijaros en un period de

2 horas. La mayoria (le la gente no
les presta atcnci6n, dijo, porque los
pajaros aparentemente no come
durantc el period de su emigraci6n.
La information que estai rounien-
do senr usada por Fryxell en la pre-
paraci6n de su tesis para su licen-
ciatura en ciencias, pero mas impor-
tante auin, proveera' la base para
mas studios por aquellos interesa-
dos en prevenir que los pajaros
choquen contra los aviones. Fryxell
explic6 que aviones se han estrella-


do como consecuencia de pajaros
que penetran el parabrisas.
Los habitos de vuelo de estas con-
ccntraciones de pAjaros'en masa y el
echo de que los cambios en el
tiempo pudieran afectar su ruta de
emigraci6n es de gran importancia a
la Administraci6n Federal de Avia-
ci6n y el ej6rcito, que estAn coope-
rando con Fryxell proporcion;indole
informaci6n del radar y transportan-
dolo en avi6n para que pueda tomar
un censo.

Unidos, por Alistair Cooke, a las

Esta secci6n, "Creaci6n de una
Naci6n" demuestra c6mo toma una
decada para former una constitu-
ci6n basada en lo que Cooke llama
nuestros tres grandes principios:

El Plazo ya Venci6

Se espera que para esta fecha
todo perro y gato en la Zona del
Canal estin usando su nueva licen-
cia como prueba de que ya han sido
inscritos por sus duefios.
Los duefios de estos animals que
se han descuidado en inscribir a sus
perros o gatos se les recuerda que
el 19 de noviembre fue la fecha li-
mite para inscribirlos sin cita previa.
Los reglamentos de la Zona-del
Canal requieren que un perro o gato
de 4 meses o mais sea vacunado
contra la rabia.
Los perros aunque son vacunados
una vez cada 3 aiios, deben tener
una nueva licencia cada afio. Los
gatos, no obstante, son vacunados
cada afio y deben tener una nueva
licencia cada afio.
Los duefios de animals del sec-
tor Pacifico deberAn llevar sus ani-
male:; al Hospital de Animales de
Corozal, pero llamar antes al
52-3457 para concertar una cita.

El costo de la vacuna contra la

El Premio del Canal de PanamA
por Servicios Pilblicos otorga reco-
nocimiento a los residents u orga-
nizaciones de la comunidad istmica
por sus actos o servicios voluntarios
que han beneficiado a la empresa
o a la comunidad del Canal. Dicho
premio es el mas alto otorgado
localmente.
Desde que el program fue pues-
to en ejecuci6n en 1970, 141 indi-
viduos y organizaciones merecedo-
res han sido citados--ir--sus contri-
buciones sobresalientes.
El premio consta de tres niveles:
El nivel mAs alto otorga reconoci-
miento al servicio que ha tenido
impact en toda la empresa cana-
lera o en todo el Istmo; el segundo
nivel, servicio a uni sector de la em-
presa o comunidad canalera, como
a una direcci6n o en un sector del
Istmo; y el tercer nivel del premio
otorga reconocimiento por servicio
a una division, poblado o instala-
ci6n military.
Los ganadores son premiados con
medallones de oro, plata o bronce
en ceremonia plblica.
En diciembre, los nombramientos
para los Premios por Servicios Pi-
blicos seran obtenidos de los distin-
tos servicios, iglesias, comimidades
y organizaciones sociales y frater-
nales en la Zona del Canal.

Senda Unida por Fin Pasa Meta


Cinco dias despu6s de terminada
la Campafia Federal Combinada, las
contribuciones hechas por agencies
que no forman parte del Canal de
PanamA hicieron possible la termina-
ci6n exitosa de la campafia annual
cuando sus contribuciones totales
alcanzaron $394,367.70 o sea 102.2
par ciento de la meta asignada.
Todas menos una de las agen-
cias que no forman parte del
Canal de PanamA, excedieron sus
metas. El Ej6rcito encabez6 el


grupo con contribuciones que al-
canzaron $120,550.34 6 160.7 por
ciento de su meta asignada.
En la empresa del Canal, la Di-
recci6n de Abasto y Servicios Co-
munales y la Direcci6n de Personal
s6lo lograron sus metas asignadas.
Otras direcciones estuvieron lejos de
sus objetivos, lo cual dio por resul-
tado que la empresa del Canal al-
canzara s61o 91.4 por ciento de la
meta asignada.
