Construction W ork

At Gorgas Hospital

To Affect Parking

Beginning Monday, Gorgas Hos-
pital patrons will notice changes
in traffic and parking patterns in
the hospital area. On that day,
Bildon, Ltd., will begin work on
a seismic rehabilitation project
which includes construction of two
six-story concrete pylons on the
east and west sides of the hospital
in order to strengthen it against
earthquakes.
Patrons will notice changes first
on the west side of the building,
near the main entrance from Gor-
gas Road and the emergency en-
trance. Construction on that side
will include both the pylon and
a new, outside elevator shaft.
On August 4, one week later, the
contractor will begin work on the
east side of the building, near
Herrick Road (facing St. Luke's
Cathedral). The exit from the
basement parking area on that
side, as well as the parking lot
across the street, will be blocked
by contractor's equipment.
The traffic circulation pattern
under the hospital will remain un-
changed, but what is presently a
one-way entrance from Corgas
Road will become two-way with
all vehicles entering and exiting
by the same route.

General McAuliffe

To Assume Command
Lt. Cen. Dennis P. McAuliffe
will assume command of the U.S.
Southern Command on Friday,
August 1, succeeding Gen. William
B. Rosson, who is retiring after
35 years of military service.
The assumption of command
ceremony, which is open to the
public, will be held at 9 a.m. at
the Albrook Army Air Field flight
line. Taking part will be Army,
Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps
personnel.

Councils Hear Talk


On Career Education


David A. Speir, Superintendent
of Schools, spoke to the joint U.S.-
Latin American Civic Council exec-
utive session on Monday.
He described career education
as a new concept in education-
on the scene for only 5 years.
The basic concept of career
education begins in kindergarten
with the development of a respect
for and a knowledge of the dig-
nity of work, he explained.
Students are exposed to different
kinds of work to broaden their hori-
zons so they know what is available
and increase their options in their
selection of a life's work.


Make Sure Plate

Clearly Visible
A word to the wise is (or should
be) sufficient.
The Canal Zone Police Division
is beginning a program of stricter
enforcement of the Canal Zone
Code requirement that all vehicle
registration plates be clearly visi-
ble at all times.
Violation of the Code is most
often the result of obstructions to
vehicle registration plates by boat
trailer hitches.
Section 167.212 (CZAR) Display
of Registration Plates reads:
"Every registration plate shall
at all times be securely fastened
to the rear of the vehicle for which
it is issued in a horizontal position
as to prevent the plate from swing-
ing and at a height of not less
than 12 inches from the ground,
measuring from the bottom of such
plate, in a place and position to be
clearly visible and shall be main-
tained free from foreign materials
and in a condition to be clearly
legible. During the period when
vehicles are required to display
lights, the plate shall be ilumi-
nated so as to be clearly visible at
a distance of at least 60 feet."


Since studies have shown that
there are 650 vocations broken
down into 35,000 kinds of jobs in
the United States, educators must
find a way of teaching what will
best serve the student-matching
education to his needs.
Too often students trained for
a specific skill find that skill ob-
solete before he can use it.
So there is less concern now
with teaching specific subjects
than with teaching people to con-
tinue to learn, to unlearn and to
relearn.
Career education is an umbrella
-an attempt to bring the world
of work and schools closer to-
gether.
Here in the Canal Zone, we
want to develop a career educa-
tion task force utilizing personnel
from every Company bureau, the
contractors, and Panama business-
men. Career education is a com-
munity program which must uti-
lize available community facilities.
Under this system, high school
students could get credits for
working in a dentist's office, for
working alongside of an automo-
bile mechanic, by working in the
office of a preacher.
This may result in negative
training which is also beneficial. It
is not time lost if a student works
in a dentist's office and decides
that he does not want to be a
dentist.
As the student get older, his
areas of interest become narrower.
Graduate work at college is no-
thing more than vocational train-
ing-intensive study in some spe-
cific area.
Another important aspect of
career education is to develop a
greater knowledge of one's self in
relation to work so that a student
who wants to be an astronaut
may find out enough about him-
self to realize that he is not cut
out to be an astronaut.


Dr. Ana Auristela Mora Wake-
land, a Panamanian who is listed
among internationally distinguished
women, has been named Equal
Opportunity Specialist in the Pan-
ama Canal's Equal Opportunity
Office and will assume her new
duties next month.

Dr. Wakeland has been a guid-
ance counselor at the Air Force
Education Center in the Canal
Zone, where for approximately 4
years she has been providing edu-
cational and training counseling
to military personnel of all ranks
and to their dependents.
In her new position, she will
serve as the Coordinator of the
Federal Women's Program for the
Panama Canal organization with
the principal duty to advise the
director of the Equal Employment
Opportunity Office on matters of
employment and advancement of
women and assure that necessary,
specific actions are taken regarding
equal opportunity for women.
In recognition of her academic,
social, humanistic and cultural
achievements, she was selected
recently by the International Bio-
graphical Center of the World's
Distinguished Women and Cam-
bridge University to be included
in the "Who's Who of Outstanding
International Women."
A native of Panama, Dr. Wake-
land was graduated in 1960 from
Marycrest College, Davenport,
Iowa, with a bachelor of arts de-
gree in education and English. She
earned masters degrees from the
University of the Americas in

Sale of Paintings

To Help United Way
Reproductions of four paintings
by E. J. Reed which hang in the
Governor's House will go on sale
at the Balboa and Coco Solo
housewares sections on August 4.
The color reproductions will be
sold in sets of two. Each set will
cost $8 of which '6 will go to the
United Way.
Reed arrived on the Isthmus in
1913 and his watercolors record
his impressions of the construction
of the Panama Canal and scenes
typical of Panama at that time.


Mexico and Troy State University,
Ala., and received her doctorate
in counseling psychology in 1970
from East Coast University, Fla.
She also has done post graduate
work at Auburn University, Ala-
bama State University, Pepper-
dine University, the Canal Zone
College, the University of Okla-
homa and Florida State Univer-
sity.
Dr. Wakeland brings to her new
position 15 years of experience
from a distinguished career in
education. She has been a high
school English teacher at various
schools in Panama City and in
David in Chiriqui Province, where
she also was principal and founder
of a business school. She taught
at the Instituto Regina in Mexico
City and was a Spanish teacher
at Bourbor County high school in
Clio, Ala., and was an English and
Spanish instructor at Alabama State
University. Dr. Wakeland is a full
professor of English and psychol-
ogy at Panama University.
In addition to founding the
business school that has provided
a business education to hundreds
of Chiriqui residents, she founded
an English Club in Chiriqui and
a Spanish Club at Alabama State
University.
She has participated in numer-
ous seminars and workshops re-
lated to guidance and counseling,
race relations, family planning.
language, humanistic psychology,
behavorial techniques and has at-
tended other education and guid-
ance conventions.
In addition to these activities,
she has been a testing control
officer, USAFSO; a member of the
Incentive Awards Committee, and
Physical Handicap coordinator and
chairperson for USAFSO. She also
has been working as a counseling
psychologist in Panama City.
Dr. Wakeland also has received
numerous honors and awards,
among them the Cordell Hull
Foundation Grant and has been
named in the "Who's Who of
Outstanding Young Women of
America."
She is the wife of Bernard Jo-
seph Wakeland, an Education
Services Specialist at the Fort
Clayton Education Center.


On behalf of Canal Zone Gov. Harold R. Parfitt, Lt. Gov. Richard L.
Hunt receives the "Honor and Merit" Gold Cross from Col. Thomas J.
Butler, Jr., Chief of the Colon Fire Department. A citation recognizing
the Panama Canal organization's continuing cooperation with the Colon
Fire Department accompanied the decoration. The ceremony was part of
the Colon Fire Department's 78th anniversary celebration. Another medal
was awarded Transportation and Terminals Director Charles R. Clark
(see photo in Spanish section).

Honored at College

Capping Ceremony

Edythe S. Marsh, a 1973 grad-
uate of Cristobal High School, was
one of 97 women to be honored
recently at a capping ceremony at
Pacific Lutheran University, Taco-
ma, Wash.
The ceremony was held in honor
of women who have completed the
first 2 years of the bachelor of
science and registered nurse pro-
gram.
Miss Marsh is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Marsh, longtime
residents on the Atlantic side of
the Isthmus.

Scientists Uncover

Possible Location

Of Drake's CofFin

The first phase of the Marine
Archeological Project Panama
(MAPP), directed by historian and
archeologist Sidney Wignall, is
progressing well.
According to Dr. Reina Torres
de Aradz, National Director of the
Historical Heritage of Panama, a
highly specialized sonar apparatus
used to locate sunken ships in the
muddy sea floor has already de-
tected several masses at the bot-
tom of historic Portobelo Bay.
Dr. Araiz says at least 18 people
are continuously involved in the
expedition, including divers, ex-
perts in the operation of the sonar
equipment, and specialists in the
restoration of objects recovered
from the depths of the sea
Maps have been drawn showing
the exact positions of the masses
detected by sonar, which are sus-
pected to be the remains of ships
sunk in the bay, and the main body
of the expedition is now working
between Drake Island and the
Three Sisters Islands. This is the
area where, according to historical
documents and ancient maps, the
lead coffin containing the body of
English mariner Sir Francis Drake
was cast into the sea.
According to Dr. Ara6z, collab-
orating on the project are special-
ists from Oxford University, the
Council for Nautical Archeology
of Great Britain, and the Atlantic
Charter Maritime Archeological
Foundation, headquartered in Aus-
tin, Tex.
Although Wignall is directing
the work being done by MAPP,
the project is under the constant
supervision of the National Bureau
of the Historical Heritage of Pan-
ama. Four Panamanian National
Guard frogmen, under the com-
mnand of Lt. Virgilio Mirones, have
been assigned to the project, and
there is an inspector on shore who
keeps a journal of all details of
the work and discoveries made,
a sort of "logbook" of Project
M APP.
Dr. Aradz is highly encouraged
by findings to date and emphasizes
that the scientists are adhering
strictly to Panamanian laws regard-
ing the protection of historical
treasures.
She predicts that phase one of
the project will terminate next
October with very promising re-
sults.

agencies residing in Vifia del
Mar attending Gamboa Elementalry

Children of employees residing
in that area will attend Diablo

Three More Pilots Earn


Unlimited Canal Licenses


The Panama Canal's three new-
est pilots have more in common
than the fact they completed the
19-month pilot-in-training program
and received their unlimited li-
censes this month.
They all arrived on the Isthmus
at the end of 1973. They all live
on the Atlantic side. And they all
spend their time on, in, or under
wvater-piloting ships through the
the Canal during working hours
and pursuing hobbies of boating,
fishing, swimming, or skindiving
when off duty.
Capt. Ronald B. Johnston, a
1965 graduate of King's Point
Maritime Academy, sailed as chief
mate for Moore-McCormack Lines
before joining the Canal organi-
zation. He lives in Gatun with his
wife, Patricia.

the menopause. Some feel strongly that they have a protective effect
on the breast-that less breast cancer develops in women on post-

by the 950-foot by 106-foot "Tokyo Bay," then the
largest container ship in the" world. The "Bremen"
held her title as the longest passenger vessel to
transit until the majestic Cunard liner "Queen Eliza-
beth II," 963 feet long and 105 feet wide, made her
way from sea to sea in March of this year.


Recession Cuts Cargo, Transits


Fiscal Year 1975, which ended

Local Group Readies Schooner For Bicentennial


Project Canal Zone Windjammer
76 is preparing to set sail and
members of the community are
welcomed to climb aboard.
This project is a community
effort to refurbish and outfit the
Sea Scout schooner Chief Aptakisic
so that it can represent the Canal
Zone in Operation Sail 76, one of
the major events of the Bicenten-
nial in the United States.
The public can participate by
joining the Canal Zone Windjam-
mer Club, the organization that
will make it possible for the Chief
Aptakisic to take part in the mem-
orable salute to the maritime herit-
age of the United States on her
200th birthday.
To join the club, simply mail
a check for $17.76, payable to the
Canal Zone Windjammer 76 Fund,

Canal Zone Project Windjammer

Operation Sail 76 is sponsored
by a nonprofit organization of
businessmen and civic leaders in
cooperation with the Sail Training
Association of London. It will
bring to the United States approx-
imately 30 of the remaining tall-
masted sailing ships and perhaps
as many as 100 smaller sail train-
ing ships and sail yachts. In bring-
ing together on these training ships
thousands of young marine cadets
from many nations, Operation Sail
is furthering the legendary brother-
hood of the sea and cultivating in-
ternational goodwill.
These sailing ships will assemble
in Europe and race to Bermuda
where they will be joined by addi-


tional vessels from the Americas
and the Far East for a race to
Newport, R.I. Canal Zone partici-
pation begins at Bermuda where
the Chief Aptakisic joins the fleet
of sailng ships in the race to New-
port.
On the 4th of July 1976, she
will take part in the "parade in
review" of sailing vessels up the
Hudson River to the George Wash-
ington Bridge, which promises to
be one of the most impressive
events in the Bicentennial. Follow-
ing this memorable display of sails,
the schooner will head back to the
Isthmus, visiting en route Bicen-
tennial Operation 76 host cities,
where copies of a scroll containing
the names of Charter members of
Canal Zone Windjammer Club will
be deposited in the Bicentennial
archives.
Refurbishing work on the Chief
Aptakisic is progressing but help
is needed to make the project a


success. Long after the Bicenten-
nial is over Canal Zone Project
Windjammer will continue to bear
fruit as the schooner will be of
great use to the Scouting com-
munity and to adults interested in
sailing.
Those interested may send a
check to the treasurer of the pro-
ject or make a contribution pledge.

A partir del pr6ximo lunes, los
clients del Hospital Gorgas nota-
ran cambios en los patrons de
trinsito y estacionamiento en los
predios del hospital. En esa fecha,
La Cia. Bildon, Ltd., comenzara a
trabajar en un proyecto de reha-
bilitaci6n sismica que incluiri la
construcci6n de dos pilares de con-
creto de una altura de seis pisos,
uno en el costado este y otro en
el costado oeste, con el fin de
fortalecer el edificio en contra de
terremotos.
Los clients notarin cambios pri-
mero en el costado oeste del edifi-
cio, cerca de la entrada principal
desde la Calle Gorgas y en la en-
trada de urgencia. La construcci6n
en ese costado incluira tanto el
pilar como un nuevo pozo exterior
para elevadores.
El 4 de agosto, una semana des-
pues, el contratista comenzarA el
trabajo en el costado oriental del
edificio, cerca de la Calle Herrick
(frente a la Catedral de San Lu-
cas). La salida desde el Area de
estacionamiento en el s6tano, al
igual que el airea de estaciona-
miento situada al otro lado de la
calle, quedaran obstruidas por el
equipo del contratista.
El patron de circulaci6n debajo
del hospital permanecerA sin alte-
raciones, pero la que actualmente
es una entrada de una sola via
desde la Calle Gorgas, se conver-
tira en una calle de dos vias, con
el fin de que los vehiculos entren
y salgan por la misma ruta.

La Dra. Ana Auristela Mora de
Wakeland, panamefia que ha reci-
bido menci6n como una de las
mujeres mas distinguidas por la
famosa revista "Quien es Qui6n en
el Mundo de la Mujeres", ha sido
nombrada Especialista de Oportu-
nidades Iguales. Pasara a ejercer
sus funciones el pr6ximo mes en
la Oficina de Oportunidades Igua-
les del Canal de Panama.
La Dra. Wakeland se ha desem-
pefiado como consejera en el Cen-
tro de Educaci6n de la Fuerza
Area en la Zona del Canal, en
donde ha estado ofreciendo aseso-
ria y adiestramiento durante 4
afios a personal military de todos
los rangos y a sus dependientes.
En su nuevo cargo, tendrA la
responsabilidad de coordinar el
Program Federal de Mujeres en
la empresa del Canal. En este
sentido su principal funci6n serA la
de asesorar al Director de Opor-
tunidades Iguales de Empleo en
asuntos relacionados con el empleo
de mujeres y su mejoramiento, y
velar por que se adopten acciones
concretas para ofrecer oportunida-
des a las mujeres.
En reconocimento a sus m6ritos
fue seleccionada recientemente por
el Centro BiogrAfico Internacional
de Mujeres Distinguidas del Mun-
do y la Universidad de Cambridge,
para que se la incluyera en la lista
de las mujeres sobresalientes del
mundo.
Nacida en la ciudad de PanamA,
la Dra. Wakeland fue desde muy
pequena con sus padres a vivir a
David, Chiriqui, en donde vivi6

La Dra. Wakeland obtuvo en
1960 su titulo de licenciada en ar-
tes con especializaci6n en educa-
ci6n e ingl6s en la Universidad
Marycrest, en Davenport, Iowa.
Obtuvo su maestria en la Univer-

v en la Universidad Troy, de Ala-
bama. En 1970 recibi6 su doctora-
do en sicologia en la Universidad

El Ingeniero H6ctor Escoffery
constitute una de las recientes y
valiosas adquisiciones del Canal de
PanamA. Ocupa el cargo de Inge-
niero de Proyectos de la Divisi6n
de Esclusas, en Pedro Miguel.
Graduado del Instituto Tecnol6gi-
co y de Estudios Superiores de
Monterrey, M6xico, en 1966, el
Ingeniero Escoffery ingres6 al Ca-
nal el 28 de abril pasado. A 61
corresponde, junto con el rest del
equipo de ingenieros que tienen
que ver con ello, revisar los pro-
yectos nuevos de las esclusas, revi-
sar equipo de las esclusas y coor-
dinar la ejecuci6n de cambios que
sean necesarios. El Ingeniero Es-
coffery naci6 en Col6n, y se gra-
du6 de secundaria en el Colegio
Abel Bravo de esa ciudad. Antes
de iniciar sus studios de ingenie-
ria, estudi6 por 1 aiio en la Facul-
tad de Ciencias Naturales y Far-
macia de la Universidad de Pana-
mi. "En realidad ya sentia una
fuerte vocaci6n por la ingenieria",
observa. Desde agosto de 1966,
poco despu6s de graduarse en
M6xico, hasta abril de este afio
estuvo trabajando con la Refineria
PanamA. Durante casi todo ese lap-
so sirvi6 como professor en la Ex-
tensi6n de la Universidad Santa
Maria la Antigua en Col6n. Desde
el present afio lectivo dicta las
cAtedras de Principios de Ingenie-
ria Estructural, Disefio de Ma-
quinas y MAquinas de Combus-
ti6n en la Universidad de Pana-
ma. Con respect a su actual em-
pleo afirma que "siempre he tenido
interns por conocer a fondo las
operaciones del Canal", oportuni-
dad que se le ha presentado am-
pliamente aqui. Al llegar al Canal
particip6 en un Programa de Adies-
tramiento por 1% mes que lo IIev6
a visitar los tres juegos de esclusas,
a transitar el Canal y a visitar la
torre de control de las Esclusas


La Escuela Secundaria de Pa-
raiso celebr6 con todo exito la
Semana del Comercio, con con-
cursos academicos en las distintas
materials comerciales y otras acti-
vidades.
La'Lic. Marta Picota, ex presi-
denta de la Asociaci6n de Mujeres
Profesionales y de Negocios de
PanamA dict6 una conferencia so-
bre la importancia de recibir una
buena preparaci6n acad6mica, a
fin de afrontar con posibilidades
de 6xito el future.
Otra de las concurridas activi-
dades de la Semana la constituy6
la Exposici6n de Libros celebrada
en la Biblioteca del Colegio, du-
rante la cual la Cia. Xerox present
una exhibici6n de diferentes mi-
quinas de oficina.
Estudiantes graduandos del De-
partamento de Comercio de Rain-
bow City, quienes tambi6n organi-
zaron diversas actividades alusivas
a la semana, visitaron a sus colegas
de Paraiso, quienes los atendieron
fraternalmente, agasajAndolos con
un suculento almuerzo.
En la misma fecha de la visit
de los estudiantes de Rainbow
City, se present un program com-
pleto de observaci6n de la Semana.
Durante el program se entrega-
ron los premios a los mejores alum-
nos del Departamento de Comer-
cio, y el Profesor Felix G6mez
disert6 sobre la importancia del
comercio y la educaci6n.
El viernes se presentaron distin-
tas peliculas educativas relaciona-
das con el comercio. Estas pelicu-
las fueron exhibidas para estudian-
tes de comercio del grado 9 en
adelante. Entre las peliculas figu-
raron "Un Dia en la Vida de la
Secretaria"; "El Comercio Mun-
dial"; "El Significado de los Ne-
gocios" y "La Llave del Creci-
miento Econ6mico de America".
Asimismo, durante la semana se


realizaron exposiciones y se arre-
glaron murales alusivos en los dis-
tintos salones.
La organizaci6n de las activida-
des do la Semana del Comercio
estuvo a cargo de un Comit6 inte-
grado por los profesores E. Hayot,
M. Macia, FMlix G6mez y P. E.
Alvarado, este iltimo desarrollando
funciones de coordinator. Todas
las actividades contaron en su desa-
rrollo con el decidido apoyo del
Director del plantel, Profesor Du-
bois W. Andrews.

Cancer en el Pecho

He aqui otra interrogante que suelen hacerse muchas perso-
nas en torn al cAncer en el pecho. 8Pueden los hombres con-
traer cAncer en el pecho?
Y he aqui la respuesta: Los hombres si pueden contraer
cancer en el pecho, pero la frecuencia con que ocurre es 100
veces menos que en la mujer. Ocurre generalmente en hombres
que sobrepasan los 60 afios de edad. Por ser muy raro entire
el sexo fuerte, los hombres afectados suelen con frecuencia
ignorar el problema hasta que es muy tarde.
Cualquier hombre que observe alg6n crecimiento en el pecho,
o alguna protuberancia, debe seguir todas las reglas que se
recomiendan en tales casos a las mujeres.

Habra Torneo de Pesca


Punta Chame sera la sede del
XIII Campeonato Nacional de Caza
Submarina, que este afio se cele-
brara los dias 26 y 27 de julio.
En Punta Chame estari la sede
del campeonato y la base de con-
trol para el pesaje.
Este campeonato es abierto y
pueden participar en 61 todos los
aficionados a la caza submarine. Al
igual que en ailos anteriores, se
espera una dura competencia en-
tre los buzos de la Zona del Canal
de PanamA y los que integran los
equipos del Club de Yates y Pesca
de la ciudad de PanamA, del Club
Tibur6n, del Club Barracuda y de
la Universidad de Panama.
Las reglas que regirin durante
el campeonato permiten el uso del
equipo bAsico de buceo, (mAscara,
"snorkel" y chapaletas). En cuan-
to a las armas, se permitira usar

San Crist6bal, en Parque Lefevre.

la Iglesia Episcopal San Pablo, y

dar fondos para el desarrollo de
sus actividades aqui.

El Proyecto Windjammer 76,
de la Zona del Canal estA en eje-
cuci6n, y los miembros de la comu-
nidad son bienvenidos a bordo.
El proyecto constitute un es-
fuerzo de la comunidad para rea-
condicionar y arreglar debida-
mente el barco de vela para ex-
ploraciones marinas Chief Apta-
kisic, para que represent a la
Zona del Canal en la Operaci6n
"Sail 76", uno de los principles
events del Bicentenario de la In-
dependencia de los EE. UU.

Crist6bal, obtuvo nuevamente me-
ritorios galardones durante el re-
ciente Seminario de Ballet cele-
brado en la ciudad de Chicago.
Lourdes Lay y Delva Trim
esta illtima alumna de ballet del
YMCA de Crist6bal, tuvieron una
exceptional actuaci6n en Chicago,
obteniendo la primera el titulo
"Miss Junior Dance America" v
la Srta. Trim el de "Miss Dance
America 1975."
La competencia se efectu6 en
el Hotel La Salle de Chicago, una
vez concluido el seminario. Parti-
ciparon destacados bailarines for-


pocos buques de vela grandes que
aiun quedan y probablemente unas
100 naves pequefias a vela.
Las embarcaciones se reunirin
en Europa y viajarin a Bermuda,
en donde se les uniran otros vele-
ros del Continente Americano y
del Lcjano Oriente, para dirigirse
luego a Newport, Rhode Island.
La participaci6n de la Zona del
Canal comenzarA en Bermuda.
El 4 de julio de 1976, el Chief
Aptakisic participarA en la "revis-
ta" de veleros que desfilarAn a lo
largo del Rio Hudson hasta el
Puente George Washington, event
que promote ser uno de los mis
imprcsionantes del Bicentenario.
I)espuis del gran despliegue de
veleros, el buque retornarA al Ist-
mo, visitando en s tr ayecto a
ciudades anfitrionas de Operaci6n
76, en donde se depositarAn en
los archives del Bicentenario lis-
tas de los miembros del club.
Los trabajos de reacondiciona-
miento del Chief Aptakisic estin
progresando, pero se require mas
avuda para hacer de este proyecto

ofrecido en la Plaza Civica de esa
ciudad. Numeroso pilblico, en el
que habia gran parte de los resi-
dentes panamefios de Chicago,
aplaudi6 al grupo que interpret
alli "Matinales Panamefios", con
fondo musical de compositores pa-
namefios, como Ricardo Fabrega
y Alberto Calimani, ejecutado por
la orquesta de Toby Mufioz.
La noche del 26 de junio se
celebr6 una Gran Noche de Gala
panamefia en el Hotel La Salle,
presentando los integrantes de la
Academia Panamena de Ballet un
program complete de danza tanto
clisica como modern.
Las profesoras De Sola y Nico-
letti fueron invitadas para integrar
la facultad de profesores que dic-
tarin classes durante el seminario
que se realizara en 1976.
