Gun which fired two shells at Gen. Ludlow's camp

during bombardment of July 10, 1898. One shell

landed almost directly in our camp, but fortunately

did not explode.

97. Dr. Guiteras, famous yellow fever expert, and surgeon in


charge during the campaign. This is the doctor


that first told me I had yellow fever. I was under


his charge at Siboney for several days, he, himself,


then being compelled by illness to leave for home.

06. Engine rebuilt by American troops at ?iboney. When the

Spanish evacuated Siboney they partially destroyed

two engines belonging to the mining company at that

point, hiding many parts in the sand. These were

discovered by our troops, and the engines were put

together by railroad men from one of the Michigan

regiments.
