Have You Been Certified for VA Benefits this Semester?
The recipients of the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) must complete a Request for Certification of Enrollment form
EVERY semester in order to receive benefits. Individuals receiving VA benefits under all other chapters who are
unsure if they requested certification are urged to contact the UF Office of Veteran Affairs. The Request for
Certification of Enrollment form is available online at www.registrar.ufl.edu/va.

VA Advance Payment
The Department of Veterans Affairs no longer will be providing advance payment options through the online
request website. If you have not requested advance payment before, and you have not been paid for Fall 2009,
advance payment can be requested at your nearest VA Regional Office. Please note that if you are receiving
Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation), are a dependant, or are currently on active duty, you are NOT eligible for
this advance payment. Please, contact the UF Office of Veteran Affairs to discuss your eligibility BEFORE going to
your nearest regional office to request advance payment.

Tuition Deferment for VA Benefit Recipients
Please be aware that ALL students receiving VA education benefits are eligible for a tuition deferment. The
payment deadline for this semester is March 19, 2010. If by that date you still have not been paid by the VA,
please contact our office for assistance.

VA Tracking Letters
Earlier this month, an email was sent concerning tracking letters. Tracking letters are the VA's way of ensuring that
benefit recipients are enrolled only in courses that pertain to their degree. These letters were mailed to students
whose courses need further evaluation by an advisor. If you have questions concerning why you received a letter,
please contact the UF Office of Veteran Affairs. If you did receive a tracking letter but have still not submitted it,
please do so ASAP. Otherwise, we may need to reduce your enrollment and thus the amount of money you
receive from the VA.

Champ VA Enrollment Verification
Individuals who are receiving health benefits under the Champ VA program must provide proof of enrollment each
semester to Champ VA. The proof of enrollment paperwork for Champ VA can be requested online via ISIS or in
person at the Registrar's office in 222 Criser Hall.

Work Study
If you are a student enrolled at least % time and receiving VA benefits, you are eligible for a VA work study
position. These positions are available at numerous VA affiliates throughout your city or state. All work study jobs
require that you present a copy of your 1999 form which is available at the UF Office of Veteran Affairs.

Office Survey
The U F Office of Veteran Affairs is conducting a survey to improve the quality of service we provide. Please take a
few minutes to stop by our office and complete the survey. We also will be calling individual students to ask for
their feedback. Individuals who sign the survey and participate prior to February 5, 2010 will be entered into a
drawing for a prize! Winners will be notified by the end of business that same day.

National Testing Program
Did you know that VA education benefits under Ch 30, 32, or 35, can be used to pay for qualification tests (e.g.
GRE, MCAT, etc.)? For more information concerning reimbursement for these tests, please contact the UF Office
of Veteran Affairs.

Financial Aid Disbursement
If you receive VA benefits and your financial aid was not disbursed directly to you, please, contact the UF Office of
Veteran Affairs as soon as possible to ensure there are no problems with your VA tuition deferment.
