WHY A HIGHER EFFICIENCY RATING CAN SAVE YOU MONEY.

EXPERIENCE TRANE

HOME COMFORT

EVERY DAY.

Whether the weather outside is frigid
or scorching, winter or summer, you
can experience total home comfort
all year long with Trane's XE 1200
heat pump.

Why should you buy a heat pump?
Because a heat pump is an all-year,
all-weather heating and cooling system.
It's called a heat pump because of what
it does it pumps heat from one place
to another. In winter, it pumps heat
into your home; in summer, it pumps
heat out of your home just like an
air conditioner. A heat pump heats
your home in the winter and cools
and dehumidifies it in the summer.

Ratings are established according to
Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute
procedures and will vary depending on
the indoor blower/coil installed as part
of your system.

THE EVER-TOUGH
CLIMATUFF COMPRESSOR.

From design to production, each Trane
Climatuff compressor is rigorously
tested and retested to assure it can
tolerate extreme operating conditions
and provide care-free home comfort
for years to come. For quality assurance,
five years of actual field stress are
simulated in 16 weeks of torture
testing in Trane's unique System 0
Extreme Environmental Test center.

and cools
your home in
the summer.

In the winter, an XE 1200 heat pump
captures the heat that is always present
in the outside air even in the coldest of
weather and pumps it into your home.
In the summer, it's an air conditioner,
pulling the heat out of your home and
releasing it outdoors. You might say it's
the best of both worlds.

WHY A MATCHED SYSTEM
IS IMPORTANT.

A heating and cooling system is made
up of individual parts. And, even though
each component is separate, they're all
designed and engineered to work together
as a system. A perfectly balanced system
is the best way to get the highest comfort
and efficiency. When you match the
XE 1200 Weathertron heat pump with
a Trane air handler, you've installed
a system with one of the highest
efficiencies available.

THE RIGHT SIZE SYSTEM
FOR YOUR COMFORT NEEDS.

When buying a home comfort system,
selecting the right size is crucial. For
instance, an air conditioner that is too L
large will cool your home quickly but
you still may not feel comfortable. It
will satisfy the thermostat before it can
adequately remove sufficient moisture A _
from the air.

THE TRANE

AIR HANDLER

ADVANTAGE.

Your central air conditioning system
consists of two main parts an outdoor
and an indoor unit. The air handler is
the indoor unit, which includes a heat
pump or cooling coil and air blower.
Its job, quite simply, is to circulate
conditioned air throughout your home.

When paired with an air conditioner,
it circulates cool air through your house
during the summer months. When
matched with a heat pump, it works
all year long, circulating cool air in the
summer and warm air in the winter.

It is important to note that the
air handler makes a tremendous
contribution to the overall efficiency
of your system.

The reason is simple. With a very
efficient air handler, the compressor
in your outdoor unit doesn't have to
work as hard to achieve the desired
temperature. And the quicker the
desired temperature is reached, less
energy is used and more money
is saved.

OUR MOST VERSATILE BY FAR.

Our convertible air handler is
designed to meet a variety of
installation requirements. If space
is at a premium, its smaller profile
ensures an easy fit. It can be installed
easily in a closet or crawl space. We
made it so it can slide easily through
a typical pull-down staircase. We also
recessed the screws into the cabinet so
that they don't snag walls or door facings.

The list of features continues
with standard size filters for easy
replacement and galvanized steel
cabinet for corrosion resistance. It can
also be converted to meet different
installation requirements. It doesn't
matter if you need an upflow, downflow,
vertical or horizontal installation,
Trane's convertible air handler fills
that need.

handler. Air handler capacity can be
mixed and matched with outdoor units
to achieve the highest efficiency and load
coverage possible.

A. m

AN AIR-TITE'm SOLUTION FOR
UNCONDITIONED SPACES.

In addition to Trane's standard line of
air handlers, we also offer the Air-Tite
air handler, which is specifically
designed for unconditioned spaces.
This air handler maximizes efficiency
because of its exclusive "air-tite"
construction. In fact, you might
compare its energy efficiency to what
happens with this simple scenario:
Imagine opening all the windows and
leaving your front door open after you
turn on your home comfort system.
All your conditioned air would escape,
right? Right. Now you understand
what we mean by "air-tite." This air
handler's special insulation, door
gaskets and thermal seals make that
much difference in effectively sealing
in conditioned air. And, of course,
increased efficiency means a bigger
operating cost savings to you.
Potential energy savings may vary depending
on your personal lifestyle, system settings,
equipment maintenance, local climate, actual
construction and installation of equipment
and duct system.

Take a peek inside your air handler
and you'll find the electric motor
that's responsible for running the
indoor blower. Most systems are
standard and that means the motor
runs at only one speed and is either
on or off. Anytime the blower is on
it's running at full capacity, using
the maximum amount of energy.

But with Trane's variable speed air
handlers, the motor is smarter than
the average blower. It automatically
varies its speed, based on your home's
heating and cooling requirements.

That's the beauty of variable speed
technology and when matched with
any of Trane's XL series of outdoor
units, it gives you a level of comfort
you've never experienced before and
saves you money in the process.

Potential energy savings may vary depending
on your personal lifestyle, system settings,
equipment maintenance, local climate, actual
construction and installation of equipment
and duct system.

There's another chapter to the Trane
air handler story the dual-circuit
System II variable speed air handler.
With the System II you have two
outdoor units, which can be of varying
capacities, and a dual-circuited indoor
air handler or furnace evaporator
coil. Depending on the weather and

With a variable speed air handler you
can reduce the humidity in your home, Most of the time, when the cooling

Trane's variable speed air handler is
specifically designed for unconditioned
spaces. It maximizes efficiency because
of its exclusive "air-tite" construction.
Its special insulation, door gaskets
and thermal seals make that much
difference in effectively sealing in
conditioned air. And, of course,
increased efficiency means operating
cost savings to you.

Trane's variable speed air handler is designed to meet
a variety of installation requirements. If space is at a
premium, its smaller convertible profile ensures an easy
fit. It can be installed easily in an attic, a basement, a
crawl space or a closet.

Low Speed

In a conventional single speed air handler,
air is pulled through the filter at a consistently
high rate of speed. But a variable speed air
handler operates at a lower speed and utilizes
a longer cycle.

LIKE A ..

There's nothing quite like the quality
of air you get with a Trane variable
speed air handler. In a conventional
single speed air handler, air is pulled
through the filter at a consistently
high rate of speed. This lessens the
filter's ability to collect dust and
allergen. However, a variable speed
air handler operates at slower fan
speeds. This means more unwanted
particles cling to the filter, flowing
cleaner air into your home.

Ennancea dnnancea
Performance Efficiency
Trane's unique Comfort-R feature provides
improved dehumidification in cooling start-up
and warmer air start-up in heating. This is
accomplished by running the fan at a slower
speed during start-up. A simple change to
the blower control settings provides the
enhanced comfort.

Trane's exclusive Comfort-R feature
represents the ultimate in comfort.
Most standard air handlers have only
three fan speeds. But with Trane there
are 12 different CFM (cubic feet per
minute) settings, meaning greater
airflow flexibility and an enhanced
level of comfort. Your Trane dealer
will determine the appropriate setting
based on the airflow requirements
of your home. Once your specific
comfort zone has been established,
your home's temperature will vary
much less than a standard system.

The Comfort-R features also gives
you even greater humidity control in
cooling. In this mode air moves over
the coil more slowly at start up. This
allows the coil to rapidly cool down
resulting in increased moisture removal.
The Comfort-R feature also gives you
a warmer air start-up in heating with
a heat pump.
WConventional

Your present system more than likely swings
3 to 5 degrees before it goes on or off. With
a variable speed air handler those days are
long gone. The Comfort-R enhanced mode
allows your home to stay closer to your
comfort zone.
