MEMO JULY 11,1988

TO: DR. ROBERT GOLD

FROM: DAVID SCOTT

SUBJECT: PAREDES-DODGE RESTORATION BUDGET

I was asked on June 22, 1988 "to determine the potential and cost

of restoration" of the Paredes-Dodge House. Through discussions

with you I was also asked to keep this figure at a minimum in an

effort to affect the Board of Trustees as to the practicality of

such a restoration.

While the proposed budget is within the scope of possibility, I

want you to understand that it is the true minimum figure. It

has built into it extensive use of staff labor in both the

research and construction portions of the restoration.

I feel that a truly complete and professional restoration and

interpretation of the Paredes-Dodge House would be considerably

more costly than the budget I submitted to you on July 5,1988.

engineering fees are required add another $15,000, though I don't

think this job would require either.

This estimate also includes a minimum of 1,100 Staff hours and

that figure could double.
