improvements, deeded in trust for team of her natural lifd of
Lucy R. Burt.

Assessor's Inventory of 1803 shows lots on St. George St. from
Treasury St. to lines of Diego Carreras, as #66, "House of soquina,
and lot belonging to the King, which serves as a stable, bounded
in front b y the Calle Real leading to the Hornwork(of Fort) on
the north by a cross street, on the south by a house and lot
belonging to the King, on the east by Jose Ponce.

Key to Puente Map, 1764, gives this location as #148, Square K,
House of stone and boards heirs of Don Manuel Garcia de Fuentes,
Clement Map of 1854- lot ;14, block 9 original claimant,Francisco
Sanchez, present (1834) Augustus Poujard. Evidently the original
stone house was destroyed as later maps show this location as
part of the King's lot and stables.
In the 1816 description "wooden' house must have been an error as
diligent search fails to give any information on house being

rebuilt after the 1816 transfer. This house was the home of the
father of Miss Ahna Burt who owned the old Spanish Treasury
building and Miss Burt's early life was spent there. Although
no definite date of construction is established, it appears it was
built between 1809 and 1816, of coquina.

Data from A. Johnson FNP, Nov. 1938.

1788 Rocque Map, Block 14, lot 101.

Two story house with oyster shell walls with some part
of wood in bad condition under the care of Diego Carreras,
let him by his brother Juan Carreras, to whom they say the
house and lot was given by the english Governor.

N.B. It does not appear certain from these sources that the house
in question can be identified with the structures on these maps,
although the Garcia place appears to be on almost the exact site.
The photostats of these maps should be carefully checked. This com-
pilation was made from an office working sketch.
Slater house architecture to me appears identifiable with
later Spanish architecture, perhaps after 1788, date of the Rocque
map. And the Puente & Rocque descriptions do not fit tnis house
too well. ( ACM?)
