The Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) is a cooperative digital library for resources
from and about the Caribbean and circum-Caribbean currently available in their original
language. dLOC provides access to digitized versions of Caribbean cultural, historical
and research materials currently held in archives, libraries, and private collections for
scholars, students and citizens online via the website www.dloc.com which is accessible
in English, French and Spanish.

The technical team supports the dLOC toolkit which was created to facilitate the
submission of resources and then processes the resources to provide full text search
capability and zoomable images as well as long term digital preservation in the state-of-
the-art Florida Digital Archive.

Current collections include newspapers, photographs, archives of Caribbean leaders and
governments, official historical documents, and historic and contemporary maps. Future
collections will feature numeric data for local ecosystems, oral and popular histories,
travel accounts, literature, and musical expressions.

dLOC's multi-institutional collaborative model is supported by a democratic governance
structure which allows for all partner institutions to contribute to dLOC's evolution and
success.

Current partners include:
Bibliotheque Haitenne des Peres du St-Esprit, Haiti
CARICOM, Guyana
Florida International University, Florida
Fundaci6n Global Desarrollo y Democracia, Dominican Republic
