April the 25th 1863
[I] Take My pen in hand to rite you A few lins [lines] to let you know that I am Well at
this time an[d] hoping these lins [lines] May find you Well. At this time Sister I am
Sory to in form you that Calvin is Dead.* I am very Sory of it Sis. Rite to William and
let him Now [know] it. He Did [died] at Richmond Va. Sis pleas rite to Me and let Me
know how you ar. Sis rite to Me Evry Weak if you ples. Now ol Sis I am going too Send
you My Money so you too take good Care of it for Me. Sis I am by My Self Now. Give
My love to all the fam and tell them to rite to Me. Turn over.
Sis When you Write to Me Direct your letter to Fredickburg [Fredericksburg] Va in Care
of Magor [Major] Davis, Company A, 5th Fla. Regt. [Brig. Gen. Edward A.] Perry
