Camp Baily [Bailey], Aug. 11th 1862

Dear Wife
My health is tolerable good at present hoping this may find you the Same. I cold not get
any Thread. Capt Lea [Andrew Jackson Lea] carried off all my money and Will not be
back in Time. I will Send you Some more money as Soon as I get it. I Shal meet The
Captain on the road. Wee Shal start for Richman [Richmond] tomorrow morning. My
Dear Dont greave for me for if it is gods will I Shal come back again. Take the best care
of your Self you can for I hope by The help of god to See you again before Long and
pleas take good care of my Dear Baby. I will write to you as Soon As I go there and
pleas do the S [Same?] and write to me every chance. Give my parting love to all the
family and connection and receive the Same your Self. Farewell my Dear wife, your
loving husband
