Members Present: David Wofford (Chair), Susan Hedge, Clayton Hutcheson, Jim Preston, Ken
Quesenberry, Jim Selph

Members Absent: Lynn Bailey, Maria Gallo-Meagher, Tim Hewitt, Karen Koch, Bill Mahan, Don
Maynard, Marjorie Moore, Ron Muraro, Brian Scully

David Wofford indicated that there were several last minute cancellations by FAC members that
has planned to attend and then the meeting proceeded with an agenda prepared by the Chair. It
was known in advance that Dr. Martin would not be attending. A meeting of the FAC with
President Young and Vice President Martin is scheduled for Tuesday October 8.

The committee members then discussed priority topics for the FAC to deal with in the 2002-03
year. In no particular order these are listed below.

I. UF/IFAS Reorganization

A. University Strategic Plan reorganizations that impact IFAS (especially CNRE, Genetics
Institute & new Biology major)
B. On campus IFAS department reorganization plans
C. Off campus center reorganizations and consolidations
D. Cooperative Extension reorganizations

II. More collaborative efforts between teaching, research, and extension. More involvement of 4-H
and Family Youth and Community with research and extension.

II. Personnel issues

A. Efforts to modify DROP back to not forced to decide to enter at 30 years
B. Medical insurance for post-docs and graduate students
C. Stipends for graduate students
D. Faculty union negotiations and how those affect IFAS


IV. Qualifications and longevity of department chairs.
