Danaya Wright called the meeting to order at 3:01 P.M.

Information Items:

Strategic Work Plan
Danaya Wright presented the Steering Committee with the options that will be available to
the Senate for approval at the upcoming special senate meeting. 1. The Senators could
choose to approve the faculty comments and recommend that president Machen incorporate
them into the strategic work plan.
2. The Senators could choose to pass along the recommendations without approving them.
3. The Senators could pass the resolution
There will be three members of the council working with the President's office to
incorporate the recommendations into one document.

Consideration of motion taking from the table the motion to approve the proposal to
create a department of epidemiology and biostatistics in the College of Public Health
and Health Professions

The Steering Committee agreed to propose the above motion at the upcoming Senate
meeting.

Rick Yost will bring forward the Research and Scholarship Policy Council recommendations
for the 1UF research as an information item.

Debra Walker King will report on the Sloan Foundation Award process as an information
item.


The meeting adjourned at 3:35 P.M.
