GATOR GO is the name given to a new product developed by the Department
of Dairy Science. It is a blend of milk products and certain other
highly nutritious ingredients, resulting in a low fat, high protein,
energy drink in a fresh 2% milk base with additional minerals, essential
vitamins and flavoring substances.
GATOR GO, available in chocolate and vanilla flavors, is the result of
research covering a period of two years by Dr. E. L. Fouts, professor
of Dairy Science, and Dr. Robert J. Cade, associate professor of medicine.
GATOR GO has a pleasant milkshake taste, is more nutritious and less
expensive than some other similar items on the market which come in
cans or as powders. It is a product that will be manufactured and sold
by milk processing companies, on retail routes, in food markets, in
vending machines, and anywhere else that milk and fluid milk products
are offered for sale.
GATOR GO was developed as a body-building drink for athletes. It has
been used extensively for two years by Gator athletic teams and has
been highly praised by the coaches and trainers.
GATOR GO has gone through a consumer acceptance test in our Food Service
areas on campus. It was packaged in 10 fl. oz. Pur-pak containers and
the customers were asked to pay 20 cents, a 5 cent premium over the
price of homogenized whole milk. Since Gator Go has been available for
the athletic teams and in the cafeterias on campus, more than 100,000
cartons have been sold. It has had such excellent acceptance that we
now feel that we can say that it is a suitable drink for active people
of all ages. As a regular diet supplement, it is designed to give new
strength to those who desire to or need to lead a vigorous life. Vanilla
and chocolate flavors have sold within 2% of each other. Other flavors
will be tried in the near future.
Ingredients to manufacture Gator Go will be made available to milk pro-
cessors everywhere in the very near future. Some manufacturer will soon
be selected, to prepare and offer for sale a package of essential in-
gredients to add to 2% milk, to make the product.

GATOR GO will offer an opportunity for the use of fresh milk in a
delicious new low fat, high protein, high energy product that has
been proven to be a good premium priced item for the dairy industry
to offer to the consuming public
As soon as the essential ingredients for GATOR GO become available,
the dairy industry will be informed, as to where they may be secured.
