Faculty Senate Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 3 PM
The minutes of the April meeting were approved.
Chair's Report Jack Mecholsky, Faculty Senate Chair
Jack Mecholsky presented an overview of the Senate's accomplishments this year, which he said demonstrates that
shared governance is working. Mecholsky also listed some possible future considerations and thanked the Senate for
their participation this year.
President's Report Bernie Machen, President
President Machen reported that the university has completed the annual tenure and promotion cycle and the final
awards will be announced at end of June, after the BOT. Machen also reported that the legislative session has
ended and the budget has been turned into the go(vernor. Machen thanked Jack Mecholsky for his service.
Provost's Report Joe Glover, Provost
Provost Glover reported that, in response to inquiries, he has asked the academy of distinguished teaching scholars
to consider a university wide teaching center. Will engage with appropriate senate councils.

Credit Hour Increase for an Electrical Engineering Degree

Proposal to consolidate the departments of operative dentistry and prosthodontics to create a new
department of restorative dental sciences in the College of Dentistry Teresa Dolan, Dean College of Dentistry
This item was approved.

UF Alumni Association Jeffery Q. Jonasen President, UF Alumni Association
Jeffery Jonasen discussed the UF Alumni Association, including its structure, programs, alumni attitudes and faculty
Academic Integrity Task Force Report Stephanie Hanson, Chair, Academic Integrity Task Force
Stephanie Hanson reported on the academic integrity task force's prog-ress. The task force is currently reviewing
literature to identify topics to include on a survey to understand issues surrounding the issue. She also displayed the
website which contains resources and meeting agendas and minutes. The task force is currently testing a discussion
board, which will be available from the site, in order to allow faculty to express concerns, opinions and suggestions

Constitution changes regarding department homes
Jim Seale presented this item. It will be an action item in the fall.
