Nope. Too many humans here on en-US Earth still cannot live in peace with other en-US humans they perceive to be different. A great alternative to an en-US artificial tree and/or a live tree is a Norfolk en-US Island pine. They are available at most en-US retailers and come in several sizes. Some en-US even come already decorated and ready to en-US go. en-US The Norfolk Island pine does require a en-US well-lit area of your home if you are going en-US to keep it indoors for an extended period of en-US time. These trees have distinctly flat en-US branches and short soft needles. These trees en-US thrive in humid environments which makes en-US them right at home in Florida. The soil en-US conditions for this tree should be on the en-US moist side. A sure sign the tree is not en-US getting enough moisture is when you start en-US to see a lot of dead lower branches. The en-US Norfolk pine does not regenerate its lost en-US limbs or needles so it is important to stay en-US on a steady watering schedule. If the tree is en-US over watered, you will begin to see areas of en-US bright yellow needles that fall off easily. To en-US avoid this condition, be sure the plant is not en-US standing in water. If you purchase a tree en-US with foil wrap on it, be sure to slit the foil so en-US water can drain from the pot. It is not en-US recommended that the trees be pruned as en-US the plant can loose its symmetrical shape. en-US Most retailers will also include many other en-US varieties of plants that are decorated and en-US ready to enjoy.en-US If you are one of the many Americans en-US who are buying a live tree this year, here are en-US a few tips to help you with the process. en-US Since live trees in our area are trucked very en-US long distances to their destination, picking en-US out the freshest looking tree is extremely en-US important. Make sure your tree is green en-US with minimal brown branches. Check the en-US needles of the tree and be sure that they are en-US flexible and do not fall off when you brush en-US the branches. Another good check is to en-US bounce the tree lightly on the cut end to see en-US how aggressively the leaves fall off the en-US branches. Avoid trees that shed leaves en-US aggressively with this procedure. Another en-US point to consider is the location the tree will en-US be placed. Be sure to get accurate measureen-US -en-US ments of the area so you can get a tree that en-US is tailored to its location.en-US You have finally picked out your prize en-US tree so now whats next? The most importen-US -en-US ant task is to get your tree in its stand and en-US located where it will spend the remainder of en-US the season. If it has not been done at the en-US place of purchase, cut off about an inch en-US from the bottom the tree before mounting en-US in the stand. This will greatly aid the tree in en-US absorbing water. Once the tree is mounted, en-US be sure to add water immediately. The en-US sooner all this is done the better. en-US Now its time to decorate your new tree en-US with all the goodies you have been collecten-US -en-US ing the past couple of weeks. Use caution en-US when using lights especially if you use the en-US larger C-7 type lights. As long as the tree en-US remains moist and the needles pliable, the en-US tree will not be a huge fire hazard. As the en-US tree ages and you get near the end of the en-US season, more caution is advised since the en-US tree structure will become drier in nature. en-US Now that all the work is done, the time en-US has come to sit back with your favorite en-US beverage and enjoy your masterpiece!en-US Joe Zelenak has more than 30 years en-US experience in gardening and landscape.
