Florida Master Naturalist Program

Newsletter

Advanced Training and Discounts

Volume 8, No. 3

U F UNIVERSITY of
UF FLORIDA
IFAS Extension

The Florida Master Naturalist Program just keeps growing, thanks to all of our fantastic
instructors and enthusiastic students, who provide us with valuable feedback and
comments on the program. Upon hearing your feedback, we recently decided to give
discounts to couples who choose to share FMNP student notebooks. Whether you take
the course together or your partner has a set of books from taking the course
previously, a $50 discount will be given to the second student taking the course. This
not only saves you money, but also saves trees! This new discount is reflected on the
registration page, so encourage your spouses to take our courses!

More exciting news! The FMNP is adding Advanced Master Naturalist workshops! The
workshops will be offered in four different topic areas: Conservation Science, Habitat
Evaluation, Wildlife Monitoring, and Environmental Interpretation. Each topic area will
include three 1-day workshops. Registration will be $225 per topic area for FMNP
graduates and $300 for non-graduates (a graduate is a person who has completed at
least one FMNP module). Upon completion of all three workshops within a topic area, a
Certificate of Completion for Master Naturalist Advanced Training will be issued and you
will be listed in the UF/IFAS database. We anticipate making the workshops available
early in 2009 and will be posting more details on the FMNP website soon.

FMNP Annual Meeting Update

While FMNP annual meetings have been successful the last two
years, one will not be held in 2008. Annual meetings have been a
method for students and instructors to interact, exchange ideas
and have some fun. A change in Program Coordinators and other
issues will prevent a meeting this year, but we are exploring
various options for meetings in the future.
