HISTORIC ST. AUGUSTINE PRESERVATION BOARD

As you requested, I examined the original section of the old
blacksmith shop and could find no structural deficiencies of note.
There were, however, a few small areas of dry rot in some of the
exterior sheathing and trim. The roof appears to be in reasonably
good condition and it is normal to see light through a shingle
roof when they are dry. I would estimate that the roof should be
considered for replacement in approximately five years.
There is some natural residue left from the former tenant
which would have to be cleaned out and the interior should be
pressure washed before it is offered for rent.
