Major General Henry W. McMillan
Chairman
Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board
Post Office Box 1987
St. Augustine, Florida 32084

Dear Henry:

In view of the deteriorating state of the Hispanic
Garden and because of our deep affection for Elizabeth Towers,
we the Directors of the St. Augustine Foundation have voted
to make a grant for the purpose of restoring the garden. The
grant will be in the amount not to exceed $10,000.00 and it
is our understanding that Preservation Board staff members
will arrange for the supervision of the necessary work in the
Hispanic Garden. To avoid commingling of this grant with
State funds it is our suggestion that agreements and contracts
for the necessary work be made in the name of the St. Augustine
Foundation and that bills for the work when signed by
authorized Preservation Board personnel should be presented to
the Foundation office for payment.

It is our sincere
tion of the Hispanic Garden
expeditiously.

hope that this important restora-
can commence and be completed

Respectfully,
Board of Directors

John D. Bailey

Frank Uphcurch, Jr.

Lawrence Lewis, Jr.
Chairman
