It is the decision of the Historic St. Augustine Preservation
Board not to renew the lease on the Hispanic Garden on the basis of
the original terms. In order to assure a smooth transition, Hector
Miron will work with Jack Lakes to transfer Florida Power and Light
and City water billing responsibilities from the Historic St. Augustine
Preservation Board to the St. Augustine Foundation as soon as possible.
Our maintenance staff will cease its care of the site after November
I assume that the St. Augustine Foundation will maintain and
care for the statue of Queen Isabela I, which is the property of the
State of Florida and the Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board,
in the same careful manner as the Preservation Board has maintained
the Hispanic Garden in the past.
Thank you for your consideration.
