THE OLDEST USO CLUB IN THE LAND
At No. 63 St. George St., in the oldest city in America, stands
this quaint and history-rich house. In 1764 one Pedro Zapato
had his home here and in 1830 the property passed to Pedro
and Catalina Hernandez Benet. From Estavan, the second son,
descended the Author, Stephen Vincent Benet-the last members
of the Benet family to occupy the house left it in about 1905
and since that time it has had a varied history until taken over
by the US 0 in February, 1954. The above picture was made
in the late 19th century.
