Mr. Overton G. Ganong,
Historian,
Division of Cultural Affairs,
Department of State, P.O. Box 1987,
St. Augustine,
Florida 32084.

Dear Mr. Ganong:-

I have your letter of the 10th instant
relating to St. Augustine settlers in Nova Scotia. In
Guysborough Sketches and Essays, by Dr. A.C. Jost
(Guysborough, 1950), there is a list of such settlers in
Guysborough County, with comments and additional information
on some of their families. William Sime (Simes, Sims) is not
in Dr. Jost's list. In Lorenzo Sabine's Biographical Sketches
pf Loyalists of the American Revolution, there is a mention of
William Simes of Georgia, who was attainted in 1778, and whose
property was confiscated. His name does not appear in
Master Goldsmiths and Silversmiths of Nova Scotia, by
Harry Piers.

Yours sincerely

CBF:jm C. Bruce Fergusson
Provincial Archivist
