RE: Inventories contemporary with Mesa-Sanchez House

Here are two inventories circa 1840. As part of the research for
the house, I have.been looking through the public records in the
courthouse for collateral pledges and bills of sale. These types
of documents usually involve two parties, both with an active
interest in describing the goods well so that they can be
identified, whether it is to protect one party's unpledged
property from being confused with the pledged property or
whether, on the other hand, it is to describe the property well
enough so that the creditor could attach it upon default. The
same motives apply to simple buyer-seller transactions.
