PLANNING MEETING ON DE MESA HOUSE INTERPRETATION



PURPOSE OF MEETING: To discuss the function of the de Mesa
House within the context of the Board's
overall interpretive goal.


PARAMETERS:

.1. The building must be used interpretively.

2. It will be a "stand alone" ticketed facility.

3. There is sufficient funding for one full time museum guide.


POSSIBLE USES: Within the context of an outdoor history museum
and the parameters established, there appear to
be at lease five viable alternatives:

1. A furnished house museum of ca. 1837.

2. A furnished house museum with some thematic exhibits.
(Current)

--3. A house museum consisting of a series of period rooms
0 depicting the major historical periods. (SAHS)

) PA mix of thematic exhibits and period rooms.

5. Thematic exhibits.
