De Mesa House Cleaning Schedule

Daily( Interpreter should be able to do much of this before opening)

Dust--woodwork, ledges,moldings, mantels, wooden furniture

Sweep--hallways, stairs and major traffic areas

Spot check--for damage to walls, flooring, furniture, artifacts. Also check for
deterioration of fabrics, canvas or furnishings due to water or insect damage.
REPORT ALL IRREGULARITIES TO SUPERVISOR

Weekly (James)

Clean upstairs bathroom

Vacuum carpet in exhibit area

Damp mop canvas floor coverings

Dust exhibit area panels

Damp wipe woodwork on sash windows inside and out

Damp wipe woodwork on door jambs, painted mantels and window ledges


Monthly (James)

Clean window glass with Windex

Feather dust picture frames walls

Wash spots on walls with Fantastik

Spray insecticide around baseboards and bathroom sink

Wet mop floors(canvas) with liquid cleaner or ammonia water

Vacuum upholstered furniture Clean Air conditioner filters


Annually (curator should supervise or make arrangements for this work to be done)

Polish brass and pewter pieces in collection

Re-varnish floor cloths

Clean drapes, bed linens and loose fabric items

Wash ceramics, glass adn marble items

Check condition of leather bookbindings, trunks etc.

Oil floors
