Subject deMesa House carpet

You will note by the last memo that the carpet is in bad shape due to "overwatering".
Tom from Carpet Care wanted to rent a steam machine and come in to "fix it". However,
I called Scalamandre' in New York and they referred me to a Mr. Ralph James in
Jacksonville. He will come in to assess the damage and make any recommendations
SOOOO, I have instructed the staff at deMesa to do NOTHING and to let Carpet Care
DO NOTHING until Mr. James can come down. I told him we would call him when you
get back so you could be there to talk with him about it. I also recommended to
Hector and Robert that we not pay the Carpet Care bill and that we not use them
again. Meanwhile, what do we do with the board room rug?

I think we should ask Priscilla or Anne if they can repair it and then take it
to Mussallem for cleaning. aL_ /L nm^

Caroet Care

As you may know, the deMesa House carpet has been stained and shrunk due to improper
cleaning by Carpet Care. I recommend that we not pay for this service or do further
business with them. I have called the manufacturer (Scalamandre) in New York for
recommendations for correcting the problem. I hope it can be fixed. Their
customer service department is going to call me back. I'll let you know what they
recommend.
