Dear Ms. Parker;

This is in response to your letter of September 20, 1988 to the
Kershaw County Historical Society concerning Seth K. Gifford.
Research letters usually are sent to us.

I found S.K. Gifford on the 1840 Kershaw County Census, South
Carolina with a male and a female under age five, a male 30-
40 years and a female 20-30 years.

I found only Mary Gifford on the 1850 Kershaw County Census. I
am enclosing a copy of the page. Note that L.A. Austin next door
states that he is also born in New York.

I am also sending a reference to Rt. Rev. John Gifford from MAR-
RIAGES AND DEATH NOTICES FROM CAMDEN, S.C. NEWSPAPERS, 1816-1865
by Brent Holcomb. It may mean something in your research.

I searched several sources which I thought might be helpful, but
found nothing.

I spent 1 hour researching @$10.00 per hour and made two copies
@$ .25 each. Postage was $ .25. Please make your check payable
to the Camden Archives.for the total of $5.75.

We are happy to help you in your research. If we can be of further
help, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Agnes B. Corbett
