on St. Osorge St., 8 ft* in depth 850 feet, bounded on the north
by the building and lot formerly used as a shursh for the
Mahonese and now owned by Mrs. Romero, south property owned at
present by Stephen Arnau, Joseph Perault eto., east by property
owned by D. Zereopoly and west by St. George St., being the same
sold by Maria del Carmen Castenada, widow of Don Juan Sanehes
1855.

of the Rosary. House is 2 story coquina building
on St. George St. which runs from the Main Square
to the landgate. Street is W boundary, Jose Peso
de Burgo S Pedro Rodriguez de Cala, E: house & lot
belonging to the King N. This he bought from a
British subject.

MIria del Carmen Castemsda and her two daughters Maria do los
Delores and Maria del dosario Sanohes, daughters of Don Jua
Saashet y Sotomayor his heirs at lar(now of Havana) sell the
lot bounded 86 rares in depth and 12 in front on the street
called Carlota, bounded on the north by a building serving as
a *hureh for the Mahonese, south by a house belonging, or lately,
to Glausepe du Bor8. (The West boundary of this lot was St.
Georke Street). ((This is now the house called the Spanish In.n))

Remarks



Appears to be located in Block 7, lot 6(41 St George St), but is not
entirely certain. Is considerable question is present building dates
before 1763. Office material present does not allow drawing complete
conclusions: secure more complete plan, compare with records such as
Puente, Rocque[of which SAHS has copies, also in SA files Secure chain
of titles. Leon Tax list in Tallahassee is necessary. Lawson and
Wilson may have additional leads.

Sir Walter S"d'l li 4ne St. G reet, almost opposite the
o C'tis yet another of the coquina buildings
which date from the First Spanish Occupation. Unfortunately,
no definite date can be assigned, but it is known that the
house and lot were negotiable property in 1771. AccOrding to
tradition, the dwelling was once occupied by the daughter of
Sir Walter Scott. Its arched openilgs are typical of the stone
houses and shops thbt early line" St. George street, the main
street of the ancient city since its Iounding-

1857- Deed Book "R" pp 491-493, Darius Allen and wife, Ma-ry, convey to Mary
Stryscka, for $1150.., stone house and lot on St. George St. bounded
north by formerly occupied as a church, but not the property of
Carreras, being the same property Domingo del Cannen Castenads,
widow of Don Juan Sanchez y Santamayor, deceased, conveyed April
15, 1832 to John and Lewis Melizet, Meliset to Lisk, Lisk to
Gifford, Gifford, to Bedell, Bedell to Hurlbert, Hurlbert to Allen.
