The Park Contains 4000 Acres:-960 acres ceded
by the State of Florida in 1915, 960 acres do-
nated by Mrs. Henry M. Flagler, and 2080 acres
ceded by the State of Florida in 1921.
Tropical Jungle, unlike any other in the United
States, covers over 300 acres of the tract. The
growth in this jungle is botanically West Indian.
Here may be seen royal palms over 100 feet in
height, stately oaks bearing cascades of silver moss,
tropical' orchids, ferns 'and vines.

The Preservation of This Jungle in its natural
state is undertaken by the Federation and has the
approval of scientists who vouch for the scientific
value of the fauna and flora of the Park.
A Moat, 60 feet wide, surrounding "Paradise Key",
and bordered by a drive will be constructed as a
protection against prairie fires, which are a con-
stant menace to the existence of this jungle.
