Mrs. Olga Fotiou
28 Cadiz Street
St. Augustine, Florida 32084

Dear Mrs. Fotiou,

I am pleased to extend to you my paternal gratitude for all
of your efforts to assist the Greek Orthodox Shrine in
St." Augustine. Indeed, it was you who back in'the early
. 1960's sent me numerous letters concerning the historical
fact of the presence of our people in St. Augustine and prompted
interest in the possibility of doing something through the
Archdiocese to preserve this fact.

At my suggestion, voiced during a meeting in Detroit in 1961,
you attended the 1962 Clergy-Laity Congress in Boston fully
intending to bring this subject to the floor. However, due to
the many pressing subjects which crowded the Congress agenda
it was deferred until the following Clergy-Laity Congress in
Denver in 1964. Since then, of course, much progress has been
made, and we now find ourselves on the threshold of a national
drive for the shrine.

Throughout all of these efforts you have been a constant source of
loyal dedication and total commitment to the project. This was most
recently demonstrated by your presence at the Shrine site when the
Royal Couple from Spain visited there and received your warm
greetings on behalf of all of us. I appreciated receiving the clippings
of their visit.

There is much work to be done in the future, and I know that
yourcontinued cooperation, assistance and devotion to this project
will be one of the mainstays of its success. This appreciation is
also directed to your beloved husband, George, who has also rendered
great personal service and support to this sacred project.

With my paternal blessings for all spiritual joys of the coming
lenten season, I remain,

ernally yours,

IAKOVOS
SArchbishop of the Greek Orthodos Church
in North and South America
