RE: AVERO HOUSE SHRINE

Dear Bob:

Enclosed, please find our re-design of the GREEK ORTHODOX SHRINE
utilizing the original "L" shaped portion of the Avero House.
Please review these plans and inform us of any comments that
you feel necessary.

I am sending a separate set of plans to Dr.TThurston in Tallahas-
see for his perusal. As you can see from the degree of detail,
we are more than complete from the standpoint of design develop-
ment and are more or less in the working drawings stage.

I will be expecting to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Dear Ted:

I found the latest on the Avero project upon my return
on Monday. I have reviewed them as per your request and my

from vacation
comments follow:

Sheet 1. Entry should not project into street.
Scored concrete pavers not appropriate (should be tabby)

Sheet 4.

Terracotta drains more appropriate.

Sheet 5. Turned spindles need redesign or change to sq. section.
Present design NOT strong enough

Typical door elevation No beading on frame side, only
on face or exterior side.

Sheet 6. Base detail could be reworked.

Sheet 7. First Fl. electrical Why not use floor outlets instead of
junction boxes in walls?

2nd Fl. electrical May be simpler solution to electrical
outlets than behind base. Perhaps a flat plate flush mounted
and painted same color as base.

Sheet 10. Need windows in south and west walls facing courtyard. Could
be non-functional and read as closed by shutters.

Need specification on type of courtyard paving.
Should be tabby or exposed shell aggregate.

Sheet 11. Exterior wall is in excess of 4 varas in height from grade.
Average grade is courtyard is 7.83'. Plans indicate wall
height of 4 varas (11' 4") from finish floor elevation of
9.00' or 1.17' in excess of the 4 vara limit.

Perhaps a meeting to discuss some of the details might be profitable for
all concerned. I would specifically like to discuss the possibility of
our providing some of the St.George St. facade mill work.

Sincerely,

Robert H. Steinbach, Director
